Ordered with Cracker Barrel's online ordering from their site, and ordered CUrbside pickup specifically. I placed my order SUPER early, at 1pm or so, for 6:00pm curbside pickup.
I get a call about 5:45 that they won't have my chicken pot pies I ordered. Fine, I tell them... I'll wait.. they said they could have them by 7pm. So I get there by 7pm... and - AS DIRECTED BY MY EMAIL RECEIPT FROM CRACKER BARREL - I clicked on the link and checked in and entered what space I was in.
Then waited... and waited... and waited... finally after 15-20 minutes I call the # on the curbside pickup sign at the space I was in. A young lady answers, I tell her who I am and that I'm there for my curbside order... she looks into it.... apparently they had my order up, but had no indication anywhere that it was for curbside pickup - Despite me clearly selecting that on Cracker Barrel's site while ordering, AND I did it right because my emailed receipt says curbside pickup as well. So she says she'll bring it out.
Waiting.. waiting... after another 10 minutes or so, around 7:30pm.... a full 1.5 hours after I was supposed to pick up my food, I get my food. The food I'd ordered 5-6 hours early to give them plenty of time and head's up to make it on time.
Get back to the hotel.... my unsweet tea was instead a sickly sweet tea. That happens, fine. The pot pies though are nothing like what cracker barrel shows you photos of on their site. They are a rectangular pie and extremely shallow, not round. I am not joking a bit when I say that under the crust of each pot pie was only 1/4" of filling, it was unbelievable.... and tasted awful.
Cracker Barrel has always made great food in the past but lately every cracker barrel location I've been too has really been slipping. Even considering how short staffed everybody is right now... service has been awful. Truly, totally, terribly awful... and the food hasn't been any better.
I'm back in Chambana for another week of work this week, and I'm not going to even bother ordering from Cracker Barrel here after that experience... when otherwise I would have been ordering from them and buying Lunch and dinner 2-3...
Read moreStore and restaurant. The store always has clothes that look better in the hanger than they seem to fit me. If you are that body type, it extremely cute. Gifts are "old fashioned" as well as the candies. All the prices are a bit higher. The store has rotating themes, and the are back into peacock everything. There is also a corner of "TV geek" where Bob Ross and others live in tshirts, mints, and other oddities. It is crowded in the store, which doubles as a waiting room, and I can't tell if it's wheelchair friendly, but it will hit hard anyone who is claustrophobic. The bathroom has multiple stalls and mirrors. You can take. In clothes to try on and there are mirrors. There is a section, that could have a baby hanging station in it, but doesn't, it's just flat, dark, and solid. While you could change a baby here, it's not inviting. (This is the ladies room, it is possible the men's room is different.)
If you do wait to go eat, the menu is heavy with pig and starch. The decor is old farm. The drinks are generous as is the food portions. It's designed to get you enough energy to milk the nonexistent cows and go about your day.
The people are usual about but for the most part leave a person alone, but friendly enough when asked for anything. Staff is shared throughout the 3 sections.
Generous amount of parkings, but be prepared to walk, this is one busy place. Although there is handicap parking, it is used, often by Veterans of various Armed Forces, who gather and talk every day.
Usually I don't see many kids, but baby seats and high chairs are available. . substitution in most items are available but watch out for those hidden fees attached, as they do forget to tell you when there is an extra upcharge.
When last in, they were not mask wearing, or wiping down anything but the tables between customers. The mask mandate was lifted days after this visit.
The third section is the rocking chairs. I did see someone using some sort of chemicals a mask, but I believe it's just so they don't pass out from breathing in cleaner. All those chairs are all able to be sat in and rocked but all locked together.
Take a seat and...
Read moreJoined the rewards program and went to the store in Urbana, Illinois. The manager said she needed a bar code to redeem the rewards. She actually tried to find it on my phone when I couldn’t get it to work. She said, “I can take off the cake because I see you DID sign up for the rewards, but I’ll need a bar code for the tea and the coffee.” I didn’t have coffee, so she had to refund that because I told her to go ask my server if she brought me coffee. She reluctantly took that off because there was a long line. This all happened on Sunday the 22nd. (The day the promotion ended.) Today, Monday the 23, I got an email saying the promotion has been extended this week. It contained the bar codes, but I’m not falling for that again. My bill with tax and a tip should have been no more than 15 dollars, but it ended up being 26. Not only that, but only half of the dining room was open and it was extremely loud and crowded. We asked if we could move to the other side and were told they didn’t have servers for that side! That’s the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. The side that was open, was completely full and people were crowded into one another. We had an awesome server. Her name was Jaci. She was very pleasant and smiled and made eye contact and was very friendly. The rest of the staff were indifferent and acted like we were a burden and were there only to collect a paycheck. With this economy, you’d think service would be a priority. I’ve talked to a lot of other people who have said Cracker Barrel isn’t what it use to be and I agree. It use to be a great place to eat with a nostalgic home town atmosphere. But now it’s more like expensive fast food. Get...
