I have a dairy and gluten allergy. I asked to see there allergen info and on the sheet it said that there cole slaw was dairy free. As I'm eating my cole slaw I notice what looks like a little piece of cottage cheese. As I dig further i notice there is cottage cheese all over in it and i have consumed an unknown amount. Well apparently there cole slaw is dairy free but it is stored right next to there cottage cheese and the manager said that sometimes the cottage cheese can get in the cole slaw. What is the point of having an allergen info sheet if you make no attemps to prevent cross contamination? so now I'm gonna be sick the rest of the night and maybe even longer. The middle aged male manager was very rude and told me maybe I shouldn't eat there anymore. I've never had someone who manages a restaurant treat me and this situation this way. As a small business owner myself I can not imagine treating a customer this way. Whoever the owner is of this place needs to stand up and make a change. Not only will I not be eating there anymore(this was my late grandmother's favorite place to eat) but no one in my family will be either. And I will make sure to let all of my allergen awareness social communities know that this is not a place they want to roll the dice on there health with. You see, food allergies arent a game to be played with. There are different variences of food allergies and intolerances. For me I get very sick with flu like symptoms that can last for days or weeks. When it comes to gluten there are people (including small children) that have what is called Celiac Desease. When these people are unknowingly fed food that has been contaminated with gluten it destroys the silia in there stomach and does IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE to there digestive system. Unfortunately there are not laws put in place to protect these people from reasturants that do not take food allergies seriously. It is up to the reasturant. I would be ashamed to be affiliated with a place that does not care about the well-being of ALL of there customers. Good riddance...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant several times because it is right next door to my hotel. There is always a long line to stand in to get your order right after you go to the register. There is not alot of room and it's uncomfortable to have tons of people huddled around a short hallway. They need an intercom system where you can sit down and go back to the window when the food is actually ready. I always smile at one of the main cashiers/ food prep ladies and she never smiles and always acts over- whelmed. Whenever I use my debit card ,their system asks for a tip , so they should be able to deliver silverware and napkins to my table. Sometimes a worker will bring the food to my table and I have to go back and get the silverware and napkins myself. The scalloped potatoes aren't too great. I took them to go and added some Romano and Asiago cheese and they were delicious. The green beans are bland as well. They need some seasoning. They have access to butcher knives so the amount of fat left on the sandwiches is unnecessary. My child will not eat his bbq with fat on every piece. I ordered a Lemonade Shake- Up one day and the lemon was rotten. I didn't complain because the line was too long to go back. When I order online, I still have to wait in line and my food is never ready on time. I would rather wait on the bench outside and have my food be brought out to me. This could possibly be a 5 - star restaurant if the customer service and side dishes are of a...
Read moreI discovered Longhorn Smokehouse when they first opened and my family has enjoyed it ever since. Very good bbq. Our favorites are the brisket, turkey, and pork. My brother loves with polish sausage. To claim that this is prepared or just fast food is ridiculous. I moved to NC for a few years and went to several bbq places there. They couldn't touch Hickory River. To have two great bbq restaurants, Black Dog and Hickory River, in Urbana is priceless. I haven't had Lacy's, but I have heard it is great too. They used to have great jalapeno poppers which we miss. The scalloped potatoes and corn bread, I think, was better under the original owners. I remember the original owners telling us that the name change was due to selling the name to the place in Bloomington, Illinois. I do recommend that you either request more sauce or pay the 40 cents for the extra sauce. The original owners had more sauce and the current management is now consistent on the amount of sauce. This week I bought a brisket platter and asked for more sauce AND to make sure I bought the extra sauce. It wasn't needed. My family bought three items. The two meat platter again was light on the sauce. Thank God I had extra sauce from the...
