Took my family here for the second time. Overall, the experience is decent. The environment is all about their coffee, Theodore Roosevelt, and moose.
Some downers:
The free popcorn has not been working since covid. The place is a bit drafty when the door opens and closes you feel it through the whole diner.
It can feel a bit cramped if you eat inside even if you are the only ones eating there. There is a huge political petitioning wall where the owner is trying to start his own political party, that feels like it takes up a large portion on the back of the store.
The portions have yet to fill me up, and I end up ordering ice cream and eating all of my kids untouched food in hopes to get full.
Some uppers:
The kids love it because they get served ice cream with the kids meal. The adults get a cookie with their meal as well (though my macadamia nut cookie was over cooked, rather dry and crunchy, and felt a few days old).
Their fries are pretty tasty, both the regular fries and the sweet potato fries.
The southwest burger with chipotle has created a fond spot in my wife’s heart.
The French dip did NOT fill me up, and could have used more meat, and the bread was slightly too dense to truly swell when dipped in the Au Jus is a little lackluster, but thankfully not super salty.
Their ice cream is top notch, they put cute eyeballs in it for the kids to make it look like a monster.
The staff is kind and helpful, as you would expect from a small diner in the country.
The place is clean, but slightly cluttered with large random objects all around.
They have a large outdoor eating area which seems like it would be more enjoyable in warmer weather.
All in all we will probably be back but if it were strictly up to me I would keep driving to the back of the building the the fabulous Mexican joint- Don Pollo! Check out my...
Read moreFirst time into this beautiful establishment. We were greeted instantly, asked if we would be dining in or outside. We chose the patio due to the beautiful Memorial Day weather.
We ordered a plain cheeseburger w/fries, kids chicken strips w/fries, and I built my own cheeseburger adding bbq sauce, crispy bacon, and avocado and went with onion rings for my side.
Emery was our server, yet the other servers and the General Manager Aaron were all so attentive. We were informed there may be about a 20 minute wait for our lunch due to the fullness of the restaurant. Great food is always worth the wait and we were content and 20 mins is not long at all to us.
My boys had their ice cream scoops first and they were delicious! The vanilla bean is so creamy and flavorful.
Our food came quick and our meals arrived in less than the given time;-) I am not a big burger person, yet I was craving one today.
I’m so glad I ordered what I did! I have never in my life had a better more savory one than I did here. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Both my boys woofed their food down and my little one said the chicken strips and fries were the best he’s ever had!
They also have an adorable gift shop! Perfect souvenirs that are must have for out of towners! Yet too adorable not to pass up for the locals!
I went with the unique coffee mug that comes with a great story attached with a key!
The background of this establishment and the little details of their story make this a DEFINITE stop for any and everyone to give them a try! You’ll def be coming back.
We can’t wait until our next visit.
Thank you again for...
Read moreMe and a party of 6 others were patrons of Mad Moose Cafe on memorial day. We were seated rather quickly, and our server came and took our orders promptly. We were left with a single pitcher of water. Then the problems began. We ended up waiting almost 2 hours for our food. We should have just walked out, alas, we did not. At around 30 minutes our waitress came by and told us that our food would be another 15 to 20 minutes. At an hour, about halfway through our wait time, someone who we assumed to be a manager started shouting at the kitchen demanding to know where our food was. The kitchen was very apathetic and did not make any movement toward getting our orders out. We were sitting inside, directly next to the open kitchen. It started to feel personal. We saw many parties come in and out in the time that we waited, including a family of 5. After almost 2 hours my sister went up to the manager and asked if there was anything we could do to just get our food and leave. We got 6 out of 7 of our meals, and were told that the kitchen had made the wrong order and we needed to wait another 15 minutes. Nearly two hours after being seated we paid full price for our meals and tipped 20% on top of the 20% included gratuity for groups over 6. We simply wanted to leave as quicky and painlessly as possible. Overall, the experience was awful. The food was good, but did not justify the ridiculous wait time. Should I ever be forced to come here again, I'll go alone and...
