I was disgusted that people were allowed to bring a dog in. I didn't appreciate it being so close to the dining area and I didn't like it barking either. Here is some Michigan Law for you: "Section 6-501.115 of the Michigan Modified Food Code (MMFC) restricts the presence of animals in businesses that sell, prepare or serve food. However, an allowable exception under 6-501.115 include service animals that are controlled by a person with a disability." This did not appear to be a "service dog" because it was not performing any visible "service". The handler was also accompanied by other people so a service animal was not required anyway. Its handler surely didn't have any sort of visible disability (it's understood not all disabilities are obvious). But that dog seemed poorly trained which is not exemplary of a service dog. If anything, it looked like it was rambunctious puppy just making trouble for its "handler". Sheesh. Gimme a break. So maybe this was an "emotional support animal" you say? Well they are not covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. They are not considered actual "service animals" and therefore are not exempted from law. I'm getting really tired of people taking their pets everywhere and claiming they are "service animals". Do I know that for certain? No. But is it written policy that D&B staff must ask for documentation? Do they even have a policy? Is the staff trained on both Michigan and federal laws? Or did the customers just say "this is a support dog" and get in because nobody wanted to ask for evidence? If legit, that dog requires more training. And although the ADA doesn't require it, such animals should wear a vest that states its certified "service". I've seen Leader Dogs for the visually impaired wear such items.
Regarding service, I will add that our server brought out a fountain drink and admitted it "didn't look right". Didn't look right? Why bring it out? Otherwise, I thought the food was pretty good (it usually is).
Holy smokes is it loud in there. My ears are usually ringing when we leave.
Bathroom was low on soap. That's a bummer with covid, rsv and the flu all spiking. On that note, seems like it would be a good idea to have somebody going around sanitizing gameplay surfaces. Just a thought. Even where I work we have custodial services doing rounds all day when viruses are on the rise. Maybe add some/more sanitizer dispensing stations?
We experienced too many issues in the short span of time we were there - especially considering what we paid. Management needs to step it up or they will lose long-time...
Read moreI went here last week with family celebrating a birthday. We had 3 adults, so we asked to load 3 separate power cards. The girl didn’t listen and put their most expensive package on the same card that already had about 450 tokens on it! So we had one card with over 1000, another with nothing and one more with one of the smaller play packages. She said she couldn’t fix it and we would have to share the 2 cards between the four of us! When the manager came he explained they can’t split cards. However, his employee did it and didn’t listen. He ended up giving us a $30 play card in which we went through in less than an hour.
The games were still fun but kind of pricey- 9 credits per game on most games seemed average.
The bathrooms in the 4 hours we were there were not cleaned. The toilet paper on the floor when I first got there was still there when I left. The ONE handicapped stall was out of order with no sign on it. My mother who uses a walker had to use a regular toilet, struggle with no arm grab bar, and leave the door open which was embarrassing for her. I brought it up to a different manager and his response was, “We are understaffed.”
Ordering drinks from the bar. Expect low quality service all around. The bartenders cannot tell you the drink price until you purchase it… I had 2 different bartenders guess what the total would be. My first bartender made our drinks really sweet, so we quickly sucked a little down to wait for her to check on us so we could have seltzer added to make them drinkable. We waited for a really long time before I asked 2 employees who were filling drinks for tables if they could add seltzer to our beverage. They said, “No we are servers you have to get the bartender.” So we waited awhile longer and eventually she came back. The second bartender never came back after making me a mixed drink. I explained my first one was too sweet and asked how his mojitos are. He said they’re pretty good so I went with it. It didn’t taste like a mojito but it wasn’t too sweet. He dropped the check without asking how we were or if we wanted another beverage. I waited for him to come back. He never did so we did not get to order more drinks. It wasn’t even busy. No one was at the bar aside from the two of us.
We will go back to use our power cards as we have spent over $200 recently loading them. I will not order a mixed drink and would be hesitant to try the food or bring back my handicapped mother.
Way to take a fun place and mess it up with...
Read moreTook my family to enjoy D&B in Utica for the 1st time last night and I had a horrible experience. When I first got there to pay for the playing cards the young lady was very nice. Went inside to find somewhere to sit and ran into a very rude server, all I asked was if a specific table was available and he said it's not my area and walked off. Saw another server and asked her she said sorry it's not my area and she didn't know. We stood and waited about 10 min and I ask the lady did she know who's area it was and she said Christian. We then waited a while and just sat down. After sitting for about 30 min I noticed Christian standing at the end of the bar talking to the bar tenders. About 10 more min passed and he began helping other tables, cleaning and asking if they where good. He finally noticed us but he just walked by and didn't say anything. Came back and took the items off the table and cleaned the it. Brought plates and napkins and walked off. After a while be came back to ask for our order. He didn't speak, he didn't introduce himself he just simply asked if we were ready to order. He took our order and went on his way. When the food came out the server who brought the food was set the food down and I asked if I could ask a question. He told me "No I'm really too busy" and walked off. I couldn't believe it honestly. My loaded qeso was good but it was cool and I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way or not, that's what I was going to ask the server. I just had to settle for cool qeso. After that I was ready to go but I had already paid for playing cards and I wanted my kids to enjoy themselves but I knew that I would NEVER come back. I try to give people the benefit of doubt but I shouldn't have felt uncomfortable or mishandled in your establishment. Your employees shouldn't be rude and nasty especially if I wasn't that way towards them. It's called customer service. This was an experience I would never want to experience again. It's like you want me to spend my money ($200+) with you but don't want to treat me nicely. I didn't expect it and it made me feel horrible. My kids felt it but I just told them to try an enjoy the games. We will never be back and I feel like this...
