Pelayo's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Vacaville

Will not return to this restaurant! I used to drive in from SAC County just for this food, but after yesterday's experience, they have lost me as a customer and I will not recommend to my friends/family ever again! There website menu states a 3-item combo plate is $16.95 and they charged $19.50 without any prior disclosures, so I guess they can charge any amount they like? No bueno #1! I went inside to pick up my food and get salsa from the salsa bar and there was no pico de gallo. I asked the staff if there was any available and they stated, "oh the owner has to pay twice the amount for tomatoes, so he is not providing it anymore. No bueno #2! Then when I requested a chile verde burrito for my 3rd item, I received a taste of shredded pork that used to have mounds of pork chunks in it along with a mountain of refried bean burrito that used NOT have beans in it! (very disappointed!) No bueno #3. Three strikes and you are OUT El Pelayo! I even called the Manager to describe by burrito and while I was trying to explain, (after many interruptions), she blurted out, if you want to come back and get a new burrito, then fine!, otherwise there is nothing else I can do for you!" and hung up on me! I want to know what happened to customer service? I want to know why I was treated poorly because her staff messed up the order? I want to know why she thinks she is entitled to treat me so rudely? So my only recourse is to tell my story and hope it doesn't happen to any of you!...

For my family of 7 its hard to find a place we ALL LOVE. There's a lot of Mexican food options in Vacaville but this one is our FAVORITE. We have been eating here for over 20 years and we will not stop. One lady walked by after my family was done eating and asked me if my kids licked their plates clean. (They didn't BUT it looked as if they did, they used chips and scooped every drop of food up they could. Nothing was left behind.) It sounds crazy but my husband even drinks the salsa. He loves it.

Ok so ... the FOOD is GOOD, the service is GREAT, most people have been working there for a long time and that says something, they remember the orders and what we like, their all friendly. I will say the atmosphere inside is a little older style its not modern or anything but its not a bad thing.

I'm leaving this review not about the quality of the food at this establishment, but about the management of this facility. Today, I went to the Storehouse foodbank located next door at 8AM, but they had no parking so I parked in this restaurants parking lot. There were no other cars. When I returned from the foodbank at approximately 10 AM, a waitress met me at my car and proceeded to SCREAM at me about how I should not have parked there, and that she has told 'You People' not to park here several times. By 'You People', I am assuming she meant people too poor to buy groceries, so 🤷 people who have to go to the food bank to feed their families. She said she was going to tow my car next, and that she had already had one towed. 🥳Congratulations Pelayos, on towing the vehicles of people who go to the food bank. My family and friends will never eat at this...
