Starbread Bakery — Restaurant in Vacaville

Be warned, this pastry is like crack. It is so good. I have intentionally not found the locations of their stores before now because just eating them when coworkers brought in a box was hard enough to not overindulge. I knew that knowing WHERE to get my own would be dangerous knowledge. But that has had to change, so now I know... 😏

I got a cream cheese filled pastry, pineapple filled pastry, and a bag of 10 of their regular ones. Man, they were all good. They also have a Nutella filled one, but I saved that for next time. Pineapple isn't my favorite flavor, but it was both sweet and tangy and the filling-to-pastry ratio was perfect.

The store could use so updating, so I have it a 4 for that, but that's not really an important detail; they know what they're doing with their pastry.

Starbread makes amazing señorita bread, however today I was less than pleased with the service. When my mother and I came in we weren't acknowledged at all. After waiting for about 5 minutes we said "hello?" Thinking that perhaps the worker may have been hard of hearing. After repeating ourselves a bit louder, the worker responded, "I'm busy doing something back here." When a second pair of customers came in she came up to the register and proceeded to ask who was there first. When she brought our order I thanked her and told her to have a good day. My husband and I visited this location for the first time a few weeks ago. We walked into an empty lobby with no one present at the counter and stood there for at least five minutes until someone finally came out... after I had to physically ring their hanging door chime with my hand. OMG It was literally hotter than Hades inside and I felt like I was in the Philippines all over again! I understand it's a bakery, but I honestly don't think this place had functioning air conditioning based on the one oscillating fan on the counter. Overall: did my order come out in a timely fashion?
