As a fan of various food places, living here in Valdosta can get pretty stale with the same restaurants serving the same food. I decided that I needed something new. I have always seen Cup Works from passing by it, and seemed very appealing. So, yesterday I went in. The place inside had a nice atmosphere for a counter service restaurant, and a huge variety of sushi, Korean, and Japanese food in the menu. Tempura dishes are my favorite go to meals, so I settled on the Katsu Don chicken Tempura bowl with an order of spring rolls. When I brought it home and opened up the goods, the bowl look absolutely mouth watering. Taking the first bite, you don't need any other sauce ontop of it. The chicken was a nice crispy tender with sweet bbq sauce drizzled ontop. The white rice had a sweet flavor to it, with an egg and some strawed vegetables mixed in. Honestly, one of the best bowls I could get here in Valdosta. Oh yeah, the spring rolls were superb with the dipping sauce you get. A tangy Soy and Teriyaki flavor that just makes the meal a joy to have as an indulgence.
I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants something different and affordable. I will definitely be back to try more...
Read moreAfter months of looking, I finally decided to try Cup Works. When you first walk in it doesnât look like much. Thereâs three different menus: the grill menu, Japanese/Korean menu and the Sushi menu. I decided on the spicy Beef Bokeum and a Philly roll. (A total of $18 and some change)The food quickly came out in less than ten minutes. The sushi wasnât fresh. It was a little on the chewier side. Iâm not sure if it was the rice or the Nori but it wasnât good. Next , I dug in the Bokeum and it was salty but bland at the same time. I had to ask for bimbimbap sauce to make it slightly better but I couldnât finish it. Itâs easily a dish you can make at home if youâre craving it. I ended up getting some ice cream for $3 which was the highlight of the trip. Overall, I wouldnât really recommend this place but considering that it is the closest thing that you can get to Korean food I see why...
Read moreCup works seemed clean, and the staff was nice enough. They serve coke products on a self-serve fountain.
The food came out piping hot, which I appreciate.
To me, the kimchi was inedible and tasted a bit chemically.
The miso soup was your standard miso soup, so delicious. It had small bits of tofu and a good amount of seaweed.
The galbi came on a bed of white rice. It was sweet and savory. The rice had a good amount of the sauce without being soupy or overbearing. It was a bit fatty, but that didn't take away from the plate. All in all, it is delicious.
The spicy tuna roll lacked a bit of flavor and spiciness, but nothing Wasabi and soy sauce couldn't fix.
The prices are very affordable even with their price increase a few years ago, as mentioned on the company facebook page.
All in all, it was just a fine experience.
I would like to return to try...
