When I relocated to Valdosta in late 2021, I was determined to make GUD Coffee my place. I was familiar with its then-new smaller downtown location through a previous visit and was immediately impressed to see their quick expansion into their current space. As with all life transitions, I had no idea what was in store for me over the last few years. But the one thing about which I could be sure is that GUD did become “my place” via my countless visits to socialize with a new friend, meet with a professional mentor, or more often than not…to just sit and be held by this incredibly special place as I read a book or spent time deep in contemplation over cold brew. In preparing to move away from Valdosta, it’s been a privilege and an honor to be a small part in the story being played out here. There is truly no communal gathering space more mystical than the coffee shop, and GUD fully honors that archetype for a town that desperately needs more of it. I will sorely miss the moments spent here, watching the world drive by on N Patterson as people filtered in and out on a coffee run. This has been the perfect spot to curl up and wrestle with life’s mysteries, hardships, and never ending questions. Because amidst all of the uncertainty, I always knew it would be very, very...
Read moreThis shop seems to take pride in being hip and minimalist but it would be nice if that minimalist experience didn’t extend to the customer service. We’ve been here twice now and yesterday we walked in and said hello and the barista didn’t even respond. The only menu is on the counter at the register and she seemed annoyed we were standing there reading after we ordered - we recently moved here and wanted to see what else is offered and there was no one behind us. She told us they were out of decaf. She did properly steam the milk and the latte art was decent. Overall, the atmosphere is a 10, the coffee is a 6, and the employee attitudes are a 1. It feels like they are doing us a favor by serving us and not happy about it. We’ve been to several of the coffee shops in town and while they aren’t as trendy, they are incredibly kind and welcoming. I hope the service here improves - I’d love to come back and have a great experience and update...
Read moreMust check this place out! We stopped off on our way to Gatlinburg and will definitely make a point to stop here again on the next trip.
Great food and drink offerings prepared with focus on the little details. Great open space with whatever kind of seating you would desire for your visit. They have full tables for groups, high tops and a lounge area with couches and armchairs for reading or conversation.
They have a glass room that looked like it could be booked out for meetings or events.
Not sure but next to the bathrooms upstairs, there was a very large open hall that appeared that it could be booked out as well, it had an attached kitchen and overlooks the city square. All natural wooden floors. Elevator access as well.
The baristas were skilled and had a very good mix of speed and quality in mind with their preparation workflow. They were also very personable and you could tell they todo pride in their...
