My friend was craving pho for lunch, so I checked out pho restaurants based on the latest reviews and decided to give this place a try! 👀
Very sweet young couple who run this place by themselves while taking care of their 2 kids. It wasn't crowded during lunch time today (Saturday, 12/14). I ordered pho dac biet and my friend ordered pho tai, both large. We felt the large bowl would be enough and the XL would have been too much for us unless we ordered one XL bowl and split it. The first thing I do when I try noodle soup dishes is to taste the broth. When tried the broth, I thought "Wow, it reminds me of my mom's homemade pho," 😳 and I do not say that often with the pho restaurants I have been to. Not only that, I finished the whole bowl including the broth! I rarely finish the broth because of how salty most restaurants make it. The portion of meat, noodles and soup felt like the right amount.
My friend liked her pho tai compared to the one she tried at a different pho restaurant in Vallejo. She said Viet Pho Restaurant's tasted more flavorful while the other restaurant's tasted muted that she needed to add more of the condiments to add more flavor. For this place, she only added chili oil to make it spicy, and I did as well for my pho.
I tried my best with my limited Vietnamese to compliment the couple for their pho and have a conversation with them. 😅
We also ordered goi cuon and I thought it met homemade standards with the roll's fillings and peanut sauce.
The husband let my friend and I sample the bun bo hue broth and I also felt it had that homemade taste! I definitely will come back to try their bun bo hue! 👀
Because it wasn't too busy today, the couple was kind enough to let my friend and I stay for a while to talk and catch up. 🥹
Overall, this would be my to-go spot for pho whenever I visit my friend in Vallejo! 😁

Read moreDropped by this restaurant on the way home from Point Reyes because we needed something warm after the cold mist in the Bay Area and because of its high rating. It was definitely worth the detour!
I ordered the pho Dac Biet. The broth was flavorful with just a hint of fat at the top to indicate it had been home made, hopefully from the marrow, but not too much where I felt like there was grease floating at the top. Mmmm yum! They only had L and XL. I got the L and it was more than plenty with a lot of meat for you meat lovers. Still, it left me with enough room to slurp on that tasty broth! It definitely hit the spot!!
My husband ordered the Bun Bo Hue. The broth was legit and authentic! It had a good balance of flavors you want in this dish: the lemongrass, shrimp paste. The cha was decent. The fish cha that they added was good even though it isn’t normally seen in this dish that we’ve seen. It was almost like eating at mom’s except they didn’t have the blood cubes nor the pig feet, which the owners said were removed to cater to the local taste and complaints. What’s up with people complaining about having authentic ingredients?!? 🙄 Overall, there was a good ratio of noodles to meat. Well worth the money.
Anyhow, the couple that own this restaurant is pretty sweet. He cooks in the back and she handles the front. The place is clean and tidy, as is the bathroom. I’d highly recommend the pho. If you’re a traditionalist and want ALL the fixings of a Bun Bo Hue dish, then it may disappoint in some ways but the flavor is there and will satisfy the cravings until you can make it. We’d drop by here on the way home from the City next time!
For the vegetarians, they did have some vegetarian...
Read moreAmazing. Amazing, amazing, amazing. It's probably one of the best pho restaurants I've been to. Me and a friend actually came in about an hour before closing and were surprised to see that the restaurant was empty! We had come back from a 7 hour ride, so we were hungry!
The food was amazing. I highly recommend their cucumber salad. It's a tangy, salty mix of cucumber strips, prawns, lettuce, peanuts, fried onion, herbs, and chili oil. We finished the entire appetizer with two people. It could feed four. We ordered the XL bowls of pho, and for $14 , it was more than worth the price. The broth was flavorful and seasoned perfectly. The meat quality was great. I think it was all hand sliced! We even got a thai iced tea on the house, which I loved because it wasn't overly sweet! It was so refreshing, and despite being lactose intolerant, I had no issues at all!
Service was fast and professional. We had nice cold drinks served while we looked at the menu. They were immediately refilled once they started to run low. I don't ever make reviews, but this spot was noteworthy in all the best ways!
Guys and gals. This is a family run restaurant. Please show them some love and support their business. They make some of the best viet food I've ever had, and they were so kind if you're nearby, you will absolutely not...
