This place has changed owners so many times in the last 10 years I've lost count. The Chop House is no exception. We made reservations as advised by their website. When we arrived there were several open tables in the dining room. The hostess sat us at a table next to a huge window. Our party of four consists of four seniors. What can I say? We get cold easily. We asked if we could move to one of the open tables. We were told no. The hostess said that the tables were assigned by the computer when the reservations were made and could not be changed. She said they were completely booked all evening and all of those tables would be filled. We asked if the other parties that had made reservations asked to reserve specific tables. She said no but she had to put us wherethe computer assignedus. Now how would the parties whose reservations were made after ours know they were originally assigned to a different table? Next, one of the members of our party asked about one of thehouse specials. The waitress knew nothing about it! Next, we ordered an appetizer that never arrived. My husband ordered water. It never arrived either!! It took about 20 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it. After waiting another 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our money, we finally asked one of the other servers to take it! This is supposed to be a fine dining steak house. And let me tell you, the prices were definitely fine dining prices! Unfortunately, the food was not. The beef tenderloin sandwich was over cooked and chewey. If you want a delicious steak, save yourself a few bucks and go to Tuckers! If you want the ambiance of fine dining, go to 801 Chop House. If you're going to open a restaurant in the back of a small strip mall, off the beaten path and behind a car wash, you'd better plan on making everything extra special. Otherwise, like all the other restaurants that have tried to make a go of it at this location, you're not going...
Read moreI wouldn't say don't go.... just use caution. I was excited to try this place after a couple of friends gave it a rave review. I can't say I feel the same about it as they did! Apparently, they don't like to let people know that they have a completely separate menu of other food to choose from! That in and of itself is a reason I'll never go back. I don't appreciate dishonest behavior like that. My fiance had a piece of foam in his drink that was a separator for the ice cubes. The bartender should have seen that. On the plus side, he rarely likes anyone's Manhattan's, and he liked the 2 he got here.... minus the foam. Potato skins were ok. Shrimp diablo was pretty ok. Neither were anything exciting but were fine. My fiance got the 14oz bone in pork chop and it was also fine. I got the 12oz encrusted pork chop and the flavor of the bite I could eat was phenomenal. I only got to eat one bite because the inside was completely raw!! I did not send it back because I don't trust restaurant staff to not get their feelings hurt and tamper with my food. When I was boxing it up I asked the server about it and while he admitted that it was "pinker" than normal he was sure it had been cooked to the correct internal temperature. And while I do applaud him for towing the company line and running cover, I do not appreciate him gaslighting me. I'm not sure how he could look at this and deny to my face that this meat was raw. We all know that meat changes texture and color when it's cooked, and we all also know that pork, like chicken, has to be cooked all the way through. That being said, I received no apology and no offer to make it right.
So as I said, use caution when going. They have great reviews, my friends liked it, the food was fine. But when I'm being charged $34 for a pork chop, I'd like better...
Read moreI took two of my buddies here for a night out and honestly all three of us were pretty disappointed.
We got sat in a back corner at a wobbly table. We mentioned the wobbly table and the server said that she was going to bring us coasters and never did. We had to ask for water three times and then our server complained about the bussers not bringing us water... Sadly that's only the beginning.
All three of us ordered medium rare steaks. My friend and I ordered medium rare filet mignon and my third friend ordered the bone in. One filet came out nearly blue/tartare with a burnt crust like it was fried quickly. The bone-in came out nearly well done. My filet was mostly fat and rare. The butternut squash cube side dish was unevenly cooked. One cube would melt like butter and then another would feel as though I had bitten into a raw potato... That all being said my baked potato was amazing as well as the appetizers.
All of this would have been fine and could have been fixed had our server been around to politely mention something too but she was just kind of overworked it seems. I left her a $50 tip because I know it's not her fault.
All in all I do have to say that I am a bit sour that the kitchen staff wasn't on top of their duties. It seemed like they were marrying and rushing sides judging on the consistency of the butternut squash. The steaks weren't cooked right which is a bit weird for a chop house.
I'll give this place another try in the future, but for a near $300 tab after some whiskey I expect a little bit more than my food coming out wrong and then not being able to politely mention something to an...
