Fritz's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Valley Park

I am not sure whether it is just me, but I personally don’t suggest this place. Coming from a frozen custard fan, I'm sorry, but this frozen custard is terribly overbearing. I first tried the pumpkin pie concrete, and I couldn't eat more than four bites. The base itself is far too sugary and clumpy. The aftertaste is quite weird, like nothing but sugar. It's also excessively spicy, and the mix-ins are not apparent. Luckily, the helpful staff repaid me with a vanilla cone, which I couldn't look at let alone eat without nausea. It's the base itself. I tried a bite of my mother's dirtcake sundae, and it was also disgustingly sweet. Not to mention that I believe my mother got food poisoning or had a stomach problem after eating this. Fritz's does not get as much attention locally as Ted Drewes, or even a couple of the chain options like Andy's, but there is a faithful Fritz's following that swears by the supremacy of Fritz's custard. I suppose I am not a discerning enough custard/ice cream connoisseur, for I love all of the above, but Fritz's does certainly belong in the conversation.

For a time, my wife and I lived within walking distance and loved strolling with our dog and some friends down to Fritz's, especially on a Saturday before or after other plans. There's plenty of outdoor seating and the service has always been adequate. It feels pricey, especially if you get anything remotely fancy, but that could be said of basically any such custard place now. Definitely worth driving/biking/walking...

Spent $7 on a brownie supreme and there was no brownie in it. Which doesn’t make any sense. It was still good. But I got the brownie supreme specifically for the brownie. And there was absolutely none in there. Literally NONE. Very disappointing. my friend got the Cookie Monster and there was no Oreos in it either. Sounds like a rip off to me. Don’t go here if you want a brownie or cookie ice cream. Because they won’t give you any of either. We got the orders to go so couldn’t just tell them.
