Tl;dr: worth going to. Fantastic atmosphere, a relaxing environment, more relaxed/slightly slower than your average service so absolutely perfect for a morning out to talk. GET THE BREAKFAST SHOT. And the margarita, and the bluebonnet lemonade.
Longer version:
Yes, the service can sometimes be slower than when youâre at a basic chain restaurant. But thatâs the beauty, it is a small business and personable restaurant. Itâs an environment where you can enjoy a really well brewed cup of coffee while talking with friends, or writing on your laptop, or whatever thing you enjoy. There is no rush and you donât feel like youâre another number at a table. You are taken care of.
Food: Breakfast and lunch all day theyâre open. Delicious tacos, excellent omelets, fajitas, absolutely scrumptius chips and queso, and everything is made well. You feel like youâre at home with a chef in the kitchen.
Drinks: coffee doesnât taste like your standard breakfast cafeâs bitter taste. It actually tastes like coffee, and isnât weak. Itâs not super strong either. Just a great middle ground. Lattes are great.
The true royalty of drinks at Bluebonnet Cafe are the alcoholic ones. Get a margarita, mimosa, espresso martini, or some absolutely godly breakfast shots. The breakfast shot is Jameson and butterscotch schnapps with a second shot of orange juice and candied bacon as a chaser. GET IT. This shot is phenomenal. And I hate Jameson.
Anyway, Theyâre newer and busy sometimes so occasionally they will be a little slower than what you might be used to. But if you want speedy service and subpar food go to a basic chain restaurant. If you want fantastic food and fantastic drinks and friendly service that is more relaxed, choose Bluebonnet. This is a woman owned small business that will not treat you as a stranger, and is more than worth your patronage. I adore the owner. Thank you, Shelly, for a great weekend spot!
(If anyone dares to complain about the service wait one more time, I will be handlin them haters. Go to ihop if youâre gonna be a buzzkill, you arenât...
Read moreMy favorite local place to eatâI pass quite a few breakfast/lunch restaurants to come to Bluebonnet for a few reasons (in no particular order):
-The delicious food is cooked from scratch and made to order -GENEROUS PORTIONS!!! -They remember people's names and really care about each person -THEY LOVE CHILDREN and have a special wall for their kiddie clients' artwork (coloring pages and crayons provided by Bluebonnet CafĂ©) -The relaxed atmosphere is great for dining and chattingâand working. If you want fast and sub-par fast food, go to a fast food chain. -Breakfast shots (available all day)!!!
I noticed no one else was talking about their unique and tasty libations, so let me share a few.
First, the Breakfast Shot: one shot of Jameson, chased with another shot thatâs a blend of butterscotch schnapps and orange juice, and finish by crunching on the (drowned) crispy bacon. Yeah. It hits.
Next, the French Toast Shot. Equal parts butterscotch, schnapps, fireball whiskey, and Baileyâs. Rimmed with sugar, cinnamon, and finish with a banana slice. Delicious!
Finally, Mimosa! A FULL glass of champagne, with orange juice on the side. Shelly Combs (owner at Bluebonnet CafĂ©) makes sure you know you are not getting shorted on champagne. â€ïžđ„â€ïž
No diluted mimosas here!!!!!
Food: as I mentioned, it's all cooked from scratch and made to order.
The omelet was massive! Oh, and ask for an 'upgrade' to the hashbrown casserole. Tasty!
Club sandwich: look at the slabs of protein on this generous triple decker! They don't use nasty pre-packaged deli meat.
If you're looking for made to order (and from scratch) delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by friendly and caring people, this is your place!
I'm there often, so feel free to...
Read moreTHIS AMAZING RESTAURANT IS A 20 out of 10 IN EVERY CATEGORY! OUR FIRST VISIT: First of all the atmosphere is quaint, charming, clean and inviting, and not far from WIN STAR! Secondly, the food is scrumptious and seasoned perfectly! As an example: my husband ordered the sausage gravy over their biscuits and he did not HAVE TO salt or pepper it but of course a pound of pepper was added because he is crazy that way! I ordered the avocado toast and PRICELESS CHANDLER (aka Bean) suggested I compliment it with a fried egg, which I did. OK, so again a 20 and not a 10 rating and was way tastier than at the Magnolia Cafe. Sorry Chip and Joanne...love you both! The service was extradinary--big smiles the minute we arrived till we left starting with Chandler (genuine and professional and warm) and ending with Shelly (the owner--who is exceptional and cares about EXCELLENT FOOD, knows EXCELLENT FOOD and DELIVERS EXCELLENT FOOD and well everything is excellent at her restaurant...oh and did I also say...they have a BAR too...that makes foodie experiences that make you CRAVE COMING BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN)! Do yourselves a favor and stop in and enjoy EVERYTHING. For those with a sweet tooth...don't over look their pies and such! Nothing is wrong with this establishment except that it is not right down the street from where we live!!! (Sun city, Georgetown, TX) THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL FIRST EXPERIENCE and ALL OF YOUR KINDNESS and HARD WORK. We will be back soon. Warmly and...
