I was looking for a place within walking distance of my hotel and will always choose Cajun if available. It is fairly small, but very comfortable with several bar seats. I was one of three tables at 8pm on a Wednesday night. Two servers, both on their game. Started with a salad with the swamp dressing, just a touch too sweet, but otherwise good starter salad. Big pours of wine, and a full bar, no complaints there. Had a cup of gumbo, not my favorite gumbo but I'm a northerner and it was probably authentic. My main was the Blackened Shrimp Royal and it was top shelf. At least six huge shrimp with great seasoning, with the Crawfish Etoufee over rice. There was at least as much Crawfish as there was shrimp. I'm not a big bread eater, but the sauce was so good I was slopping it up with two slices of bread. Read moreMan, I hate to leave bad reviews but this was really no bueno. Was visiting family in Van Buren this evening and saw this pop up in places to eat. I placed my order online for a bowl of seafood gumbo, fried boudin balls, and a side salad for a total of $32.56 after a 15% tip. Once I got home and opened my food up I found boudin balls that were way overcooked and looked like old boudin balls that had been rebreaded and fried again. Once I got through all of the burnt crust I found about a nickel size portion of actual boudin. The $15.00 “seafood gumbo” should be renamed okra gumbo because that’s really all it was. In the entire dish I found two small shrimp, about 2-3 crawfish tail pieces, and a few sausage. There was plenty of okra though! Definitely not the Landry’s I remembered...
