Our family has always loved Paulâs. So when it came time for my daughterâs wedding cake we were happily surprised to find the cheapest wedding cake prices in town from our favorite bakery. In April she was told they could do the exact design and size she wanted. In June they told us they could no longer do the size she ordered and paid a deposit on. She was disappointed but I convinced her to add sheet cakes on instead. Then at the end of September two weeks before the wedding we were told that they could no longer do the bows she wanted on the cake because the fondant was cracking. Two weeks away left us very stressed out and with no options but once we saw the actual bows we told them that was perfectly fine. Crisis averted. When my daughter had called about the bow situation she told them she wanted to pick the cake up at 6 am when they opened. They told her to call back and confirm. She immediately called me and I agreed and she called back within five minutes of the first phone call. Everything was confirmed! The day of the wedding due to other pick ups we arrive at 10 am (4 hours past the confirmed time) to find out they hadnât even started decorating the cake yet!!! I was horrified. Then they tried to say we didnât call, then it was we didnât call to confirm. Which was not true at all. Finally, the decorator said well the lady didnât write it down. They had to decorate the cake in 30 minutes while we waited to travel out of town to the venue. They made ordering a wedding cake a very stressful situation starting in June but the wedding day was a fiasco. They offered nothing in return, no kind of apology or anything. It makes me so sad that our favorite bakery caused us such terrible stress on our daughters wedding day. The positive thing was everyone thought the cake tasted wonderful, especially the spice cake and had no idea the stress caused. That being said Paulâs is probably great for an easy cake or small order but donât order for them if you are planning a large wedding cake or for a really big event. They might end up saying they canât do the original design you paid a deposit on and then come back saying they canât make the decor they said they could six months earlier and then not be on time with something as important as the wedding cake. It was so stressful and a...
Read moreI used to like Paul's. Went there alot. I've worked in many restaurants and food places for over 20 years up to management. After my wife's experience recently, I will never go again which I'm sure won't upset Paul's. I had never been into Paul's right when they opened but recently my wife got there right when they opened at 6. You woukd think if you're going to say and be open at a certain time, you would have at least a small variety of donuts ready. This was not the case. There were some donuts holes and cookies to purchase but that was pretty much it. When ny wife asked about when more donuts would be ready, she was informed someone was working on some glazed and it would probably about an hour . From my understanding, the employ acted annoyed at my wife for asking if the donuts she saw were it. "Forgive" my wife for assuming that if you're going to open up at 6 you should have product available and a variety. I don't appreciate some employ acting annoyed because a potential customer was asking a legitimate question since it's obvious your place of business doesn't have the foresight or brain capacity to think that perhaps we should have product if we're going to be open. What. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of". Needless to say, my wife and I stopped by sunny donuts in Fort Smith and got our several dozen donuts there; a much better choice since they actually had donuts and product when they were open. In closing, don't go to Paul's right when they open unless you want to be treated like an annoying sibling and that you're a problem and nuisance for trying to be a customer with a legitimate question and assumption. I mean I guess if you don't mind that or leaving hungry and without product be my guest. Worst...
Read moreWhile my fiance and I were visiting for the planning of our wedding, our friend booked us a cake tasting at Paul's Bakery to see how we would get on. My fiancĂ© feels very passionately about the flavour of our wedding cake so this was a very important thing to him. đ
When we walked in we were greated by Susan, she sat us down with some water (needed as the heat that day was unforgivable) and the flavours we requested to try.
I believe overall we tried around 6-7 different flavours, and each one was just a delicious as the other. So fluffy and tasty. Our favourites were the butter pecan, apple spiced and carrot cake!
Our friend even bought a suprise carrot cake and they put our initials on top in the colour of our wedding theme! â„ïž
Susan came over and asked us questions about our wedding day and gave us all the information we needed in order to build our wedding cake.
We did have another appointment at another bakery a few days later so we didn't book them immediately but we have decided we are going with this Baker for our big day as they hit the mark on flavours and...
