La Huerta Authentic Mexican Food — Restaurant in Van Buren

I’ve given La Huerta in Van Buren several chances, but each time has been disappointing. The last two times I ordered from their to go location, the food was inconsistent and the staff came off a little rude. This past Monday, I decided to try the actual restaurant instead, but it was even worse.I ordered a lunch Steven Special, but when I went to pick it up the price seemed too high. I asked the cashier about it, and he said I had a large Steven Special which is not what I ordered. I understood the mix up since the names sound similar, but what really bothered me was how it was handled. When another employee asked what was going on, the cashier made a rude comment and even called me loca. I might not speak Spanish, but everyone knows what that means. Thankfully, another gentleman stepped in and helped get it fixed, but the cashier’s attitude was completely unprofessional. The taste of the food is AMAZING, the service is great, and a month ago I would have given 5 stars no questions asked. As of right now, I feel 3 stars is being generous. The last 2 times I've been there, the food has been lacking. I get that things are expensive and companies need to make up for that, but the last 2 times I have gone there, I have gotten mostly rice with a small pinch of grilled veggies and 3 or 4 little pieces of chicken. If I'm spending $40 plus on a meal for 2, I expect more than a small pinch of veggies and 3 or 4 little pieces of chicken on 2 pounds of rice. I'm hoping this has just been bad luck on my part, because the place has always been great, and I'm willing to give it another chance, but if it happens again, I'll have to unfortunately...
