We stopped for lunch during lunch hours. Our server was friendly and told us to sit wherever. The place had 3-4 tables of older folks enjoying lunch as well. The place is cute - oldies decor everywhere and cool oldies music playing. We sat in the back dining room and I think it was a mistake because although it was quiet, there were like 3 flies harassing us throughout the meal. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer and those were decent. The skin was thin and very crispy and did not stay on the onion, so I ended up eating the skins until the oil on them got to be too much before the meal. For our meals, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and fries and my friend ordered the patty melt. The food arrived after 15 minutes or so and was hot. That said, my burger had almost no flavor and was super tough meat. Even after I added both salt and pepper, it was still so bland I didn't finish it. The fries were small (they were supposed to be curly fries but we're mostly the ends in my basket), overcooked, and too crispy. The ranch was runny and bland. My friend said the patty melt was also just ok. Again, the server was sweet and kind but the food was not at all good and unfortunately I will...
Read moreGood food. HORRIBLE service. Really liked my bacon cheeseburger and our malts were very yummy. Cheese sticks were on point too…Lady acted like what they do here is normal and I should’ve totally knew how to go about everything. Took our drink order but didn’t take our drink order and came back like 10 mins to take our order finally ( I had 2 small children) but she took the peoples order behind us who came in like 5mins after us and they were served before us as well (all adults!!). Took a very long time for 5 cheese sticks and 3 small malts. I asked for napkins because my 3 yr old was making a mess with her malt…the original lady that I asked literally took 15mins to get us some napkins!!!! Had to ask someone else because she obviously forgot about us. We were not checked up on ONCE.NOT ONE TIME!!!! Need more drinks? They didn’t care. How’s the food? They didn’t care. Desert??? They didn’t give af.. I originally wanted to get a hot fudge sundae for my kids… but since they took sooooooo long the girls were flipping out of their seats… very cute place. Such a shame we had such a horrible experience. Good...
Read moreA Retro Gem in Van Buren: Dairy Dip Diner
During a road trip through Arkansas, we discovered the Dairy Dip Diner in the small town of Van Buren, and it was a charming find.
Open since 1952, this place is a time capsule that transported us back to the golden age of American diners.
Nostalgic Atmosphere and Classic Food The decor is a true trip to the past, with a theme centered around Elvis Presley and the music of the 50s and 60s. The atmosphere is authentic and very well-preserved.
Despite being such a traditional place, the service was fast and efficient. We didn't have to wait to be served, and the food arrived quickly.
We tried a classic Patty Melt and Bacon cheeseburger and a milkshakes, and both were delicious, with great flavor and at the perfect temperature.
The staff was friendly, and overall, the experience was very positive. Although the diner is a bit hidden, it's one of those treasures that are worth finding on the road.
If you're passing through the area, we highly recommend visiting it to enjoy a traditional lunch in a...
