Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill — Restaurant in Van Wert

Van Wert Beer Barrel, flat out, Bees Knees!!! COMPLETELY floored by my experience! Me and my Girlfriend came here for our anniversary! We both have never been here and both of us have had mixed reviews from trusted people that have been. Lets start at our waiter, Brady....HOLY COW!!!! He was an absolute delight!!! That man needs a VERY good raise! He was helpful, informative, kind, funny, very interactive, made us feel like we was the only people there. He definitely made our overall experience magnificent! Now, the atmosphere. WOW! It being a brand new business here, it should very much deliver that, right?! It did just that! Now, on to what you came here for. The Food & Drinks. Everything from the Lemon Drop Martini, Mimosa, to my Girlfriends beer was better than I thought it would be. It was delicious! I had only 2 things I didn't like or care much for. Their Bloody Mary, was good, just to spicy for me and my belly. I also had some chicken that I just didn't like. I cant remember the name of that dish, my apologies. Both the chicken and Bloody Mary were taken off the check. Most, if not all other restaurants around here wont even think about doing that! I had the shrimp tacos, holy cow those were amazing, ill be getting those again for sure! As an appetizer I had the sample tower. Now, THAT is a whole meal buy itself in my opinion. Wanna visit Beer Barrel in Van Wert. Do it! Keep it up! We will definitely...

Overall decent food and nice atmosphere.

The family went for the Wednesday burgers and beer. A sign displayed in the table indicated that burgers were $8 and beers were $3 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

However, the bill indicated full price for the burgers. We inquired with the waitress and were informed that the special only applied when buying the burger and beer together - not an option to purchase separately.

I’d recommend that the restaurant revise the table sign to make it less confusing for customers. As a suggestion, the restaurant could consider a sign that states “Burger and Beer for $11” which would more effectively convey the restaurant’s intent.

I acknowledge that I could have asked the waitress for clarification - but everyone at the table thought the sign’s meaning was pretty clear.

Not to dissuade anyone from trying, but recommend seeking clarification on any specials...

I lived in Lima Ohio for several years with many family members in the area. With that I have eaten at their Beer Barrel location many times. We thought this would be a good stop along the way as we now live in Indiana. I will state that the food still tasted very good. However, we ordered their deep dish pizza, and what we got was 100% the exact same thickness as the tables around us, one of which we spoke to and they did not order a deep dish. When we asked our waitress she was insistent it was correct. My assumption was they messed up the order, refused to admit it, and still charged us a higher rate for the deep dish. If not, then the deep dish is a complete and total rip off, as we also have enjoyed visiting Chicago on several occasions and always find a new deep dish to enjoy. Either way it merited a lesser star rating to ensure others do not fall into the same...
