Good and friendly staff, terrible food. Small greasy spoon with easy parking access. Cute and clean décor and friendly staff. I don't understand how it has such good reviews. Ordered over medium eggs and they arrived way over cooked, replacement eggs were slightly under cooked but better than before. Ordered the corn beef hash well done and arrived undercooked, asked them to toss it back on the griddle and sear it well done. They brought it back looking the same (picture is after it was sent back and still not well done). The homestyle potatoes were blend, tasted like they were cut and baked without even salt on them (pictured after we added salt, pepper and tabasco sauce to try to fix them). Coffee was weak, like dirty water. How do you mess up something as simple and over medium eggs and well done corn beef hash? At a breakfast restaurant?

We are still sitting at our table as I write this review. Last night I asked around where we are staying and found this spot on Google. This place is great!! It’s in a small plaza and has 11 tables. It’s quaint and has a nice small town/beach vibe. The servers (2) were very nice and friendly. The owner came around to check on all the tables, he too is nice. The food is excellent! I ordered the Homemade Cornbeef Hash Skillet with a short stack. The food is fresh, made to order. My wife had raisin bread French toast and eggs. Everything was delicious! Such a nice place for breakfast! The coffee is pretty good, Black Gold Coffee Roasters. If/when we come back to Venice, FL this place will be on the list to come to!

The food was decent. The service was good. The prices were reasonable. They are one of the few places that can do eggs over medium correctly. They have a wide range of hot sauces, which is better than other places that have only Tabasco. My wife had blueberry pancakes with bacon and I had two eggs with bacon and hash browns. Here are my recommendations to turn this into a five star breakfast place: Triple the amount of blueberries or add a glaze fruit topping, move to the thick cut country style bacon, and switch to a premium coffee blend. No one in Venice would be able to touch you at that point.

Hi, my name is Michelle and my family and I were here visiting Venice for a weekend getaway. We googled to find a breakfast restaurant to eat at before headng back home. Flapjacks Cafe was the first to come on google. So we went to Flapjacks and I went in and asked the lady how can we get a table outside and place an order to eat. She replied "you would wanna go to the right, they will serve you there", I'm the owner of this restaurant here. Finding out to the right of me is another restaurantat, at that time it dawned to me that she did not want to serve a black family. So to my black family that are visiting Venice, my advice is not to come to this restaurant if you don't want to feel humiliated. If there is a rating of zero, zero, zero stars I would give it, in this day of time racism still exist. Shame on you Flapjacks Cafe...

Dear owner, in response to your explanation, I did not point to the right side, because I wasn't aware that it was another restaurantat on the right side of you. I felt uncomfortable how you spoke to me in front of...

We go to Flapjacks every time we stay in Venice. We are down here several times a year and we have been going there since the place first opened. I realize the place has changed owners over the years but the last two visits have been disappointing. I ordered blueberry pancakes, as usual. They were the typical huge pancakes that covered the plate. Unfortunately, they were awful. We couldn't eat them and we spoke to the owner. He graciously took the pancakes off our bill and gave us a 10% coupon. We went back a few days later and again I ordered blueberry pancakes. My husband ordered potatoes O'Brien...the breakfast special. I received a side order of pancakes (not the huge pancakes you usually get) and the potatoes were so dried out they practically disintegrated. Terrible. Just a note to the owners...First Watch serves more food for slightly more money (roughly $5) and everything is very fresh. I want to continue to patronize Flapjacks so stay...

3/19/2016Visiting Venice for a concert. Saw Flapjacks on TripAdvisor. It was right around the corner from Motel 6 (look for my review on it). This restaurant is in a small strip mall and it is very small itself! Only about 10 tables so go early. (plus a few outside) We got there a bit after 9am. Acknowledged right away (yay) and sat down. Friendly staff and our order was put in fast. It can be a long wait for your food, maybe too long. Hubby and I got two eggs with toast, fresh fruit cup for him and grits for me plus toast. Toast looked like it had been grilled...really yummy. Everything was hot and the fresh fruit cup was real fresh fruit! Nothing mushy about it. Grits were excellent but watch the temp, very hot. My eggs were over easy and I had ordered medium but still good. Staff was attentive to people waiting outside for tables...esp the young man. Good place to eat...clean, new carpeting and well...
