Hi, my name is Michelle and my family and I were here visiting Venice for a weekend getaway. We googled to find a breakfast restaurant to eat at before headng back home. Flapjacks Cafe was the first to come on google. So we went to Flapjacks and I went in and asked the lady how can we get a table outside and place an order to eat. She replied "you would wanna go to the right, they will serve you there", I'm the owner of this restaurant here. Finding out to the right of me is another restaurantat, at that time it dawned to me that she did not want to serve a black family. So to my black family that are visiting Venice, my advice is not to come to this restaurant if you don't want to feel humiliated. If there is a rating of zero, zero, zero stars I would give it, in this day of time racism still exist. Shame on you Flapjacks Cafe...
Dear owner, in response to your explanation, I did not point to the right side, because I wasn't aware that it was another restaurantat on the right side of you. I felt uncomfortable how you spoke to me in front of...
Read moreWe go to Flapjacks every time we stay in Venice. We are down here several times a year and we have been going there since the place first opened. I realize the place has changed owners over the years but the last two visits have been disappointing. I ordered blueberry pancakes, as usual. They were the typical huge pancakes that covered the plate. Unfortunately, they were awful. We couldn't eat them and we spoke to the owner. He graciously took the pancakes off our bill and gave us a 10% coupon. We went back a few days later and again I ordered blueberry pancakes. My husband ordered potatoes O'Brien...the breakfast special. I received a side order of pancakes (not the huge pancakes you usually get) and the potatoes were so dried out they practically disintegrated. Terrible. Just a note to the owners...First Watch serves more food for slightly more money (roughly $5) and everything is very fresh. I want to continue to patronize Flapjacks so stay...
Read more3/19/2016Visiting Venice for a concert. Saw Flapjacks on TripAdvisor. It was right around the corner from Motel 6 (look for my review on it). This restaurant is in a small strip mall and it is very small itself! Only about 10 tables so go early. (plus a few outside) We got there a bit after 9am. Acknowledged right away (yay) and sat down. Friendly staff and our order was put in fast. It can be a long wait for your food, maybe too long. Hubby and I got two eggs with toast, fresh fruit cup for him and grits for me plus toast. Toast looked like it had been grilled...really yummy. Everything was hot and the fresh fruit cup was real fresh fruit! Nothing mushy about it. Grits were excellent but watch the temp, very hot. My eggs were over easy and I had ordered medium but still good. Staff was attentive to people waiting outside for tables...esp the young man. Good place to eat...clean, new carpeting and well...
