Kyoto Sushi — Restaurant in Ventura

We have been regular customers for years and told others to try it despite the slow service because it is usually just one person working… tonight, we took grandma out with us; at the end of the meal, they gave me my bill and then handed my 12yo a bill and said she didn’t pay for her roll like half a year ago… Like what? First they said she came alone; I said she’s 12 and doesn’t drive. Then they said she didn’t pay for her roll with her grandma… like what? She went there once with her grandma when she was 11. Why would an 11 yo child have a separate check? They were flat out rude! And to think that recently after a customer nearby told the chef that they didn’t want their rainbow roll because he didn’t make it gluten free and he said he made it right but they refused it… I felt bad for him so I said I would buy the roll along with my order to take home… to help him out and not waste it. Goodbye Kyoto - your rudeness...

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times already and it’s hands-down our favorite sushi place in the area. This small hole in the wall place is cozy and welcoming, and the service is always exceptional. It’s tucked in the back corner of a shopping center but don’t miss out on visiting. Clarice goes above and beyond to make every visit special. She’s very attentive, and remembers all the little details. Sean, the chef, consistently delivers some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. Every dish is fresh, beautifully prepared, and clearly made with care and passion. The sushi is well priced and worth every bite. This is a super good sushi spot near our house. My favorite to come here for his lunch but their dinner is good also. I’ve been in on a number of occasions so this review is based on multiple experiences at this location and not just one. The food is always good that’s been my experience on the last occasion my wife ordered teriyaki chicken and it wasn’t that great. My favorite is to get the bento box for lunch. They have some great specials that you can get when you come here. The staff is always super friendly. My experience has always been kind with the servers on the sushi shops.
