Subway — Restaurant in Verona

Went to this subway location tonight with my son. The employees didn't seem to know what we going on and kept asking each other questions. I asked for green peppers on my sandwich and the employee put cucumbers on. I apologized and told her that I wanted green peppers not cucumbers. She took the cucumbers off and put them right back into the container. Then my son was eating his sandwich and said he didn't ask for olives when he saw a black thing in it but proceeded to eat it anyway. He started gagging and I told him to spit his food out. The "olive" was the texture of dirt and smelled like garbage. I took the rest of the sandwich and the napkin up to the counter and the employees just looked at me then said it must have been from the toaster. His sandwich wasn't toasted. They asked me if I wanted a new sandwich and I told them no thank you that I would not be eating anything else from there but wanted them to be informed. I feel bad because I know it wasn't their fault necessarily but it was disgusting and from what I saw, the place was poorly maintained and staff poorly trained to handle food. The manager of this Subway is super friendly, remembers frequent customers & their preferences, and makes an effort to make sure that you are getting what you want, and liking what you get. Most of the other staff (but not all) seem to share her point of view. As with any fast-food style restaurant, they do cycle through staff members that are simply there for a paycheck and don't care about the work or customers - but the management at this location seems to try to keep that to a bare minimum.

The prices are better than many of the other Madison area Subway locations, and they still have an unadvertised breakfast special involving a 6" breakfast sub and a drink, which makes it a frequent morning destination for me. I don’t eat pork due to religious restrictions, and I recently ordered three personal veggie pizzas online from this location. When I received them, something smelled off. I took a closer look and found a pepperoni slice hidden under the tomato on one pizza. When I checked the others, I found signs that pepperoni had been removed but traces were still there. I was absolutely disgusted and heartbroken.

This isn’t just a mistake, it’s a serious violation of trust and disrespect to someone’s religious beliefs. I threw all three pizzas in the trash. I felt deceived and there was no way to file a complaint or get support.
