Just ok for us... no not even ok really. My wife and I decided to eat out on our last night of camping at the local state park. Great campground BTW. Out of the limited choices we chose crossroads thinking it had a more country and local feel to it. The online reviews seemed pretty good what with a 4.5 star rating and all. Things started off slow... They weren't very busy, yet it took our server at least 5 minutes to come take our drink order... 2 waters. It was another 5 minutes before she returned with the waters and during this time at least 2 other servers asked us if anyone had taken our drink order... that was flag # 1. Brushed it off and continued on. We ordered the fried green tomatoes we had seen on the online menu... they didn't have any. 2nd red flag. ok let's just get the fried mushrooms. Quick service on those... good thing the ranch dressing had flavor because the mushrooms sure didn't. Placed our order for dinner... 10oz filet medium well, baked potato and side salad with thousand island for the wife. Ribeye medium with a baked potato and a side of mixed veggies for myself... here's where the flag counting stops... side salad comes out with some type of vinaigrette dressing, may have been they're homemade thousand island, she wasn't sure. She sends it back and requests a side salad with blue cheese. Dinners arrive shortly afterwards. both steaks are cooked to order but hers tastes like it has been marinated in a vinegar type seasoning... maybe to help tenderize it??? not really sure. She ate about half of it. my steak looked odd even though it was a medium steak there were no sear or grill marks on it and it looked as if it had been boiled... very bland looking and the taste as cooked was not good. I was able to dress it up with some salt and hinny 57 sauce... I never ever have to dress up a properly cooked steak. The mixed veggie was just as bland as the steak, and I used an unhealthy amount of salt just to take a few bites. Both baked potatoes were severely undercooked and cool to the touch.
This place could really be something special. Maybe they're just not a steak restaurant. in that case take it off the menu and stick with what you do best... fried chicken fingers and breaded...
Read moreUsually we get great service and wonderful food. This time was disappointing.
First off it took quite a while to get anyone to even ask if we had a waitress or get a drink order put in. Which they never offered to refill.
The food was good, the salad not so much. The onion was the out thin part that was like paper and was Inedible.
They were out of ribeye, and then over cooked the sirloin.
She hurried us to give us our check, my friend wasn't done with his dinner but she wanted to give us our check or get a dessert order. He said he wasn't ready, I said I wanted cobbler, and she walked away while I was still saying that I wanted to wait for my friend, I knew he wanted cobbler too, (We'd talked about it on the way in.) But she walked away and changed the check and put in my order.
We couldn't get her attention to explain, until my dessert was delivered. Which was by another waitress. We explained to her and she said she'd take care of it and took it away.
When my friend finished his meal, he was still chewing his last bite, she ran my cobbler back out.
I told her he wanted to order dessert that I said I wanted to wait for him to order his and we both wanted it alamode. She left mine on the table and ordered his. Mine was cold by the time the next person bought out his dessert and my ice cream and yet again a new check.
All in all the food was ok, not great, but the service was awful. Especially for a Wednesday night at the end of their...
Read moreI always expect great things when I go somewhere to eat and as things happen I score down from there. When we stopped here, my first impression was grand. It felt like we were stopping for a meal while on vacation in Kentucky or Tennessee. We stopped for breakfast today. (I was hangry!) First off, the menus felt icky. I like to create my own breakfast with what I order. Wanting pancakes, eggs & bacon. I like sandwiching my eggs in pancakes and top with peanut butter. Peanut butter chips is offered on the menu, but those aren't appealing to me. So, I asked if they had peanut butter. "Yes" So, I asked for some on the side. The server, instead of having the conversation about having the chips vs. the spread (would I like that instead) chose (for me) to have peanut butter chips put into the pancakes. She didn't bring syrup either. I didn't know the chips were in the pancakes so we waited quite a while for her to come back with coffee refill to ask for peanut butter and syrup. I didn't say anything about the difference between chips and peanut butter. I just ate it. The other servers seemed more present than ours. It...
