DONUT HOLES ARE A DAY OLD!!! Every time. They warm them up to try to hide it, but the dried, flaking glaze tells me it’s been hours if not from the previous day.
When I went, I would go before 8:30am, so the product should be fresh and shouldn’t be hard/semi-hard donuts with full blown cracked, falling off glaze. Hours old might have dry glaze, but usually the donut hole is still soft-ish and the glaze has some moisture. I have to leave donut holes on my counter in the open all day for them to turn in to what I receive “fresh” from Shipley’s. These aren’t 4am donut holes. These are previous day, twelve plus hour donut holes.
They must also simply leave them out in the air and don’t bother to store them in an airtight container. That alone slows the dryness by sealing in moisture. The bread will still begin to harden but not as much and the glaze typically won’t crack for a few days. I keep mine in a cake carrier at home if I don’t finish them at once.
Ironically, their other products don’t have this issue. Just the EASIEST THING TO MAKE, the donut hole! Stop over making donut holes. They’re nasty!!!
I stopped going after numerous (15+) attempts. I wish the other stuff was cheaper so I felt like I could get the same quantity of food for the price, but it seems that one donut is the cost of a bag of donut holes.
Also of note, this is the only Shipley’s I’ve ever been to that did not serve fresh donuts. And I grew up with a Shipley’s less than a quarter of a mile from the school. I understand trying to keep food waste down, but it’s real simple…STOP MAKING SO MUCH! You must be cheating with dating your food for the health inspection, because that stuff is old and needs to be thrown out….especially when it’s not kept in a container or closed display case. Either you’re cheating or receiving bad...
Read moreI placed on order online for Sunday 6 pm pick up at Shipley's Donuts. I get there before 6 pm and there is a note on the door and drive thru window that they are closed. I was charged for my order so I call and Rosemary says I have to get refund from website. I say ok well I want to address why I had a paid online order and wasnt informed that they wouldnt be open. She saod she didnt know because she wasnt here. I said well if you have a paid order why would they leave. She said because they close at 6 pm. Okay well I got there at 5:50 pm so I made it before close. She then says they must have sold out. How do you sell out if there is a paid order sitting there and the tine hadnt come for the pick up. She then uses that her shift was over by that time, mind you she is the manager, and she hasnt apologized yet. I had an event that I placed the order for that put me in a last minute bind. I bring that to her attention that she is the manager but had yet to apologize for an order they got and couldnt have called and asked me to come in early. All she asked after calling her out is if I wanted my refund (the one she said I had to call for) I say yes and she says she leaves at 12 or 1230. I get here at 1145 and she left, without calling, and left message with young worker to call the online people. I never once got ugly with her or cussed. How do you further aggravate a customer by leaving prior to stated time and without resolving issue. Customer service is dead and she is trash for how she...
Read moreWe ordered crunchy donuts and instead got glazed chocolate iced donuts with sprinkles. I cannot stand iced donuts of any kind and absolutely NO sprinkles! If they were out of crunchy I would have ordered something else that we like instead of the crap we got! Disgusting! I threw them away. I also ordered glazed blueberry cake donuts and those were as hard as a rock and super dry. They tasted like yesterday’s donuts. I had a sausage and cheese kolache which was just ok. I had one glazed which was fine. This order was very disappointing and did NOT satisfy our donut craving at all! I can get crummy donuts anywhere for way cheaper if that’s what I want. We will...
