We went at Dinner time on a Friday, luckily got seated and served very quickly - I’d recommend early arrival for best results, as there was a steady stream of eager diners arriving, and they filled up rapidly!
If I was going for a one-word description of the experience, it would be “big”. From the high ceilings and booths with ample elbow room to the (literally) huge menus, and generous portions for food and drinks, they don’t do anything small.
Started with the coconut margarita, and it was without exaggeration one of the best I’ve had. Over on the other side of the table they were trying a Classic Margarita, notable for being served in a glass that might require two hands. Based on facial expression, it seems like that was equally a hit.
I’m guessing 3 to 4 sips in, the appetizer arrived. Nachos (pictured) with absolutely delicious ground beef, chicken, guac, sour cream, etc. on a massive serving plate. Three of us thoroughly enjoyed it and still had ample leftovers.
But before we were anywhere near wrapping up the appetizer, our Entrees arrived. I got the Surf and Turf burrito (pictured) , earning a knowing nod of approval from our server. “A LOT of people like that one”. Well, good enough for me. And turned out to be true, as both people who ordered it at our table were impressed. The shrimp was a standout - subtly seasoned and still tender after cooking. The sauce and remaining filling blended together very well, and as with the rest, quite a full plate. In other establishments they might even call it a “for two” serving.
My only regret is that I didn’t get to try the Fried Ice Cream this trip, but it’s on the list for future visits!
Top tier all around,...
Read moreI used to go to this restaurant when it was Leoncito. We thought the food and prices are going to be the same or better than Leoncito and went to give it a try a few days ago with my husband, my 9 year old son a friend witn her son and my cousin and her son who came from Jersey. We all left very disappointed. The food prices are way too expensive & food didn't taste good. I ordered a beef bowl and my steak was cut into little pieces, almost as if it was to feed a small child. The rice was so little and the bottom was a pool of lime juice filled with wet frozen vegetables. When the food came my husband burned his hand because the plate was extremely hot. They should have advised us of how hot those plates were. My husband had to burned his hand for all of us to know. Me, my cousin & my friend ordered frozen margaritas. The margaritas were watery. The waitress and a guy who i believe to be the bar attendant brought them over. I told them that the margaritas were supposed to be frozen, the guy proceeded to tell me that they are frozen and that's how a frozen margarita looks. I told him I've been drinking frozen margaritas for years and I know what a frozen margarita looks like. The drinks were watery and to top it off, didn't taste good. All of us were not happy with the prices, food didn't taste good and the drinks were not good either. My cousin from Jersey said when she comes back to Florida she does not want to go back to this restaurant and neither do I. I miss Leoncito. Their food was very good and prices were way better. The only reason I'm giving 2stars is because the restaurant is nice looking and the...
Read moreThe service last night was horrible!!! After we were seated, a busgirl came w/ chips and dropped entire bowl of salsa on floor. It splashed all over my white dress, both my husband's shoes + jeans & my shoes. She quickly cleans only a small spot on floor but not the rest of area and silently left without saying anything. NO APOLOGY!!
Five minutes later, our waiter (fresh out of college) is smiling and asking for our drink order. I explained to him, the floor under table is still covered in sauce and my skirt and husband shoes are dirty, my legs are wet too. He moves a foot away from the mess and says, "Oh sorry so what do you want to drink?" 5 minutes later he drops off our drinks and NO NAPKINS. Is it not implied that we need him to help us with some way to clean ourselves off? I then have to ask him explicitly, Please get us napkins!! The stains are now marinating in our clothes and some sense of urgency is needed!
After our food and entree arrived, (brought by someone else) our waiter is nowhere to be found. Both of us have no silverware, no forks or knives, and our food getting cold as my husband flags him down. He gives us silverware and he is still avoiding the spot near our table because the ENTIRE TIME NO ONE BOTHERS TO CLEAN THE MESS ON FLOOR.
After he hands our check and electronic payment system, he stands there watching me intently as I'm entering the tip. Do you think he earned his tip at this disastrous meal?
Where the hell did you hire these unskilled people with no customer skills? Avoid at all costs! There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in...
