A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Village of Baldwin

Not super impressed with this A&W. But I wouldn't call it a horrible experience. First of all, I am a huge fan of automatic hand dryers. But in this case, there is no way to exit the restroom without touching the handle. So in this environment, I think an automatic paper towel dispenser would provide a safe way to avoid contamination. I actually had to go back and grab some toilet paper in order to exit without re-contaminating my hands. Anyway, I ordered two hot dogs and I asked for a lot of ketchup. No amount of ketchup is too much I said. They came back with less ketchup than I would have liked but I realized that no normal human being uses as much ketchup as I do, so my plan was just to go out to my car where I keep a bottle of ketchup on hand. I didn't complain and I didn't really have a problem. I was in no way rude or disrespectful to anyone. As I was getting up to walk out to my car, my server frantically questioned me about what I was doing, as if I wasn't going to pay for it. I assumed I was just going to pay at the cashier station because I figured that's what the cashier station was there for. There was a man at the cashier station and he asked if I had brought my receipt. I told him no it was on the table, but I could go grab it really quick. By this time the server was at the station, telling the man that the receipt was not on the table. ( if I hadn't brought it with me I don't know where it would have gone.) I found the experience really unsettling. She just gave off the vibe that she thought I was up to no good. There is an A&W where I live, and I will be happy to go there instead. Love the atmosphere and the food was ok, but I was thoroughly disappointed with our service. We ordered a cheesey coney dog as a basket with cheese curds. No problem there. We also ordered 2 5-pc corn dog nuggets as baskets, selecting chili cheese Fries as sides for both. For each order, the nuggets were $3.49, and according to the menu the chili cheese Fries should have been an additional $3.50 as part of the basket. Instead, we were charged the regular price of $4.99 for chili cheese Fries. Assuming it was a simple mistake, I brought it to the attention of our server. We were told that for some reason the computer doesn't let them put it in that way for the chili cheese Fries, and there was nothing that can be done about that. "Sorry." I hoped for a different person at checkout. Perhaps it would be fixed or adjusted at that point. Well, that didn't happen. It was our same server and we were just told again that there was nothing they could do about it. She "just works here." If it's a known error that "can't" be fixed, perhaps costumers should be notified ahead of time--just a thought. I would have ordered differently. Perhaps she could have summoned a manager or shift lead if she "just works here" and cannot do anything differently. Nope. Nada. Nothing. Had a disappointing experience today at this restaurant I have frequented many times before. Went through the drive thru and ordered 1x chocolate shake, a large cheese curd, and a #2 Combo (2 chicken sliders, fries, root beer). I received my food and began driving home, only to realize I received a bacon cheeseburger and a regular cheese curd in the side. I did get my root beer and chocolate shake. I turned around and went back since a cheeseburger is much different than chicken sliders and I ordered a large curd. Wouldn’t have been a big deal if it was the wrong kind of burger, but I ordered chicken. Took my untouched meal inside to get my actual meal and got met with a rude manager. Was told I asked for the meal I received and there wasn’t anything they would do. Eventually after going back and forth, I was given 2 chicken sliders in return. No large cheese curd but oh well. Just disappointed to see that type of customer service from a manager after a mistake on their part. Could have been a simple fix and I wouldn’t have to write...
