I was with an Indian international student who wanted some Indian food. This popped up on Google as the closest for us, and so we drove over an hour here. We were all a little skeptical when we pulled into a truck stop and went in and just saw gas station chicken and nachos on the wall menus. Then she noticed some Indian food menus on the table, and we suddenly felt more optimistic after looking at the authentic menu options, including mostly vegetarian (some chicken too, and goat). It's all made fresh, friendly service, took about 45 minutes to get food for 4 of us, but they told us there was activities upstairs (it is a truck stop after all...), but we just sat and chatted while we waited. The chai was amazing, so was the Naan, and all the other food was great too. The Indian student said it was great and was so happy. We got medium which was pretty hot, too hot for 2 of the people with us. It was ok for me, but...
Read moreIf you're looking for a building with a restaurant in it, well you'll be driving for awhile. This was in a gas station and it was first hard to find because no signs states the restaurant was there or where it was even at. Had to go inside to find it's in a little food court area.
Food wasn't amazing, but it's like Trader Joe's frozen Indian meals. It felt like a fast food Indian restaurant more than a sit down location. The mango lassi wasn't fresh, it was premade, waiting in a refrigerator case. With premade items they would need to be dated and the lassi did not have a date, so I don't know when it was actually made.
The sitting area they had inside, the tables weren't that clean, little sticky. The guy that rang in our meal, looked bored and didn't really want to be there.
Disappointed that it wasn't that great with all the hype I heard...
Read moreThis is a delicious gem hidden in plain sight in a truck stop in Baldwin, WI. Who would have thought?
The first time my husband and I visited back in March, we had the daal makhani, which is delicious, and worth the trip right there. We also had goat curry, which is decidedly homestyle (bone-in meat). The meat was a little skimpy, but the gravy was tasty. The basmati rice was nicely seasoned, and you get one container of rice per entrée. The garlic naan is fresh and tasty. We also had chicken pakora, aka Indian chicken nuggets. Again, delicious, and a large serving, and you get two different chutneys for dipping.
We visited again recently and the food was just as delicious as the first time. They have lots of excellent vegetarian options.
If you want ambience, this isn’t the place, but if you want good food and plenty of it, make the...
