Matteo's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Village of Germantown

I used to go here regularly because i love Mexican but the bad service turned me off for good. There's always an issue. I sit at the bar every time and every time i tell myself i wont be back. I've been here at least 10 times and only received good service my first time (from the white gentlemen with the glasses.) There is a latina main bar tender girl who has a terrible attitude. There are 2 latina guys a taller one and a shorter one they are better than the girl but still pretty rude. There used to be a black gentleman he was super nice but he hasn't been there in a while. They rarely greet you or ask if you need a menu. They act like you are bothering them when you ask for stuff. They act like they don't understand you and often get the order wrong. On top of the terrible service their selection of tequila is very limited and they over charge for what they do have. The food is ok at best. I love Mexican and the restaurant is 30 seconds away from my job so i dont mind it. But in all honesty, compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area the food at matteo's its very sub par....

I’ve been here several times and today was the worst experience. I sat at the same table and ordered the same food and drink. Unfortunately, our server had more important regulars come in. The whole staff raved over 2 at the bar and a few in a booth. This took away attention to my booth. I ordered food and the couple at the bar and booth took presidency. I talked to our server at the end and he said it was because I wanted something for free. I had a conversation asking about the buy one get one special. I ordered the house special margarita and asked if I order can I get the lesser one still for free. He said no, I said work with me please laughing. Now, at the end of the meal accusing me and saying I only wanted something for free. I also asked during the meal if there was a new cook because the chicken did not have the same flavoring. He said no, maybe they forgot something. Worst experience I have had. I normally come in atleast once a month but I guess...

I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants in my day and have found many of the best to be right here at home in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas. But I have to say that I was extremely and pleasently surprised when my daughter suggested Matteo's Mexican Grill. It was an early Friday around 5:30 and the place was already at 95% capacity. Even so, we were seated quickly. Our server was fast, friendly and accurate. The menu had items that were different from the same old, same old, and so I tried something new. It was delicious! I had the Birria Tacos and can highly reccomend. Also an alternate bean selection that I believe was called Charros that was delicious. Even though the restaurant was crowded, food was still served in a very reasonable amount of time. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, so parking is abundant. There is also outdoor seating available. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Fish frys are available on Fridays. I will be heading back again...
