We come in every year for the Oshkosh airshow and have a group of 15-20 visit WISH Steakhouse for dinner. It has always been an issue getting reservations in the past and once there seemed like we were a nuisance being a larger group. This year was different, group of 14 called on a Friday afternoon and no problem. There seems to be a reason for that as when we arrived at 6:30 there was only a few cars on the lot and a couple of tables in the dinning room.
Servers were great but the food was the issue. I had a ribeye blackened as I have ordered in the past medium rare. The ribeye was so tough and after 3 bites and splitting out 2 of them I informed the server that steak was tough and just take away. She offered to replace with something else but as slow as the kitchen is I knew everyone would have been finished before a replacement would have arrived. After not eating my steak the check arrived with 9.40 discounted off a 96.50 check. My ribeye was 44.00 plus 3.00 blackened, had a baked potato with butter and asked for more butter as all the butter had melted before entree came to table and run into plate. Guess what I got charged 1.00 for a small scoop of extra butter. Really, serve a in editable tough steak with potato for 48.00 and discount 9.40 off. Funny when we were Oshkosh this week went to a Texas Roadhouse and ordered and ribeye at 1/2 the price and was so tender, keep that in mind when you visit WISH, they do not stand behind their meals and their attitude is to bad pay your bill and we do not care if you come back which may have reflected on why the parking lots was empty on a...
Read moreOur first time at WISH was a very good experience. When we walked in around 5:30 pm on a Wednesday, the staff was just starting to write the specials on the board at the checkin desk. We were greeted promptly, asked if we had a reservation, told okay when we answered no, then given our choice of a booth or table. Lindsey, our server was friendly and professional and she thoroughly answered all my questions with the menu. The specials weren't listed anywhere, we had to ask for them. No prices were given, so we were surprised at the $59 cost for the bone in ribeye. I had the $33 ribeye on the menu. Both were cooked as requested, juicy and had a great taste. I added the Oscar style to my steak, consisting of bearnaise sauce, asparagus and crab. It was a wonderful addition to an already great tasting steak. A side is included with the steak entree and everything else is extra. I had the vegtable of the day which was brussel sprouts with maple syrup and thick bacon. Awesome flavor, not too over the top. Husband had twice baked potato that had a creamy cheesy taste, perfectly seasoned. The baby spinach salad was very good with the bacon vinaigrette and the crabcake appetizer was one large sized cake and tasted okay to us. We requested bread which was served hot and fresh, tasted like sourdough and was a perfect starter. I was impressed with the upscale decor and style. The restaurant and bar was fairly busy by the time we left. Overall it was a very good experience. The food is worth the money and we will return, but probably for only special occasions or for the cost-friendly...
Read moreWe decided to visit Wish after we could not get into our first choice of restaurants on Saturday evening. This turned out to be a great alternative to our first choice. We were a party of six (my wife and I along with our two children and their significant others). We made reservations for 7:30pm and arrived 30 minutes prior to have a drink in the bar area. I'm not sure we needed reservations, as the restaurant was steady, but not busy. We were able to sit whenever we chose to. We sat and chatted for about 40 minutes before we decided to be seated. Everyone tried a different meal, and everyone thought the food was awesome. We had the ribeye, the cowboy ribeye, the filet, a steak burger, and the Wagyu skirt steak. These were the best steaks (we shared) that I've had in a long time. They were tender and cooked to perfection. I typically avoid steak at restaurants because I feel that I can make the best steak at home, but this was steak on a whole new level tonight. Everyone agreed. From our appetizer (calamari) to our salads (chopped 7 layer), the food was fantastic. I will say one of us had a lobster tail, but that was a bit tough. I wouldn't suggest that. Our server was also awesome. Extremely polite, informative, and attentive, but not overly so. It was great to spend a nice evening with our family, but to spend it enjoying awesome food and spectacular service put our evening over the top. Thank you so much Wish. We...
