This is not a chain. It tastes very fresh and authentic.
I’m disappointed none of my Smyrna neighbors shared about this place.
I ordered via pickup via door dash, which was simple and the food was ready promptly.
The baba ganoush is very excellent and generously sized, with delicious fresh pita bread.
The falafel were also excellent. Less texture than others I’ve tried, which worked very well. They were served with tahini sauce I believe.
The chicken shawarma has a subtle nuanced spice flavor. Initially I missed the bold flavor ala Trader Joe’s cook at home version. With the sauces and with time I appreciate this version. I’ll order extra tahini and tzatziki sauces next time.
The tzatziki sauce is different than what I’m used to. No chunky cucumbers but a creamy flavor with distinct dill herbs.
We also ordered the rice pudding and tiramisu.
The tiramisu had strong coffee flavor as hoped. It was first dish to disappear.
The rice pudding is creamy and thick. Very different than Mint Leaf (Indian restaurant nearby.) I believe it said orange blossom flavor. It matched the description and complemented the other food.
I can’t wait to try more items on the menu.
Atmosphere: Shell station. I don’t know if they have seating. Best...
Read moreI was working on the tracks near by, and decided to hunt down some chow while waiting on some of the train traffic to clear up. I woke up that morning with hummus on my mind. And not the red lid plastic tub grocery store version of hummus either. I wanted the real deal. Yall, I felt like providence brought me to that gas station to fill up. I stepped inside just thinking of a small snack as surely there would be no mana found within its walls. How delightfully wrong I was when I walked to the counter and some body's Yaya smiled and said I looked hungry. The menu was extensive. The damn cooler had close to a dozen salads to choose from,I almost got the tabbouleh as it was parsley heavy, but I went with the pasta salad which was banging, and the gyro I ordered took me from hungry to "roll me over in the ditch im done" I was so damn full. The hummus yall! It was creamy with NO grit! It was perfect and came with a fresh grilled pita?! I feasted with great joy and utter abandon, yall. Give this spot a try as my coworker got one of the $11 lunch specials, and it looked great and that Togo plate groaned. 10/10 WILL go...
Read moreYea, I was expecting the world given the high reviews. But, this place was meh and just okay - I wouldn’t say it’s worth all the ratings it has gotten. The baba vanish and hummus is good. Lamb/beef shawarma wasn’t great - tasted dried out and not as flavorful as expecting and quantity didn’t seem up to par. Chicken taza spicy was not bad and okay. Rice was okay. Garlic sauce was good but I was only able to get one packet and the menu shows they can charge $.50 for more packets. Tzaki sauce was good too. To improve, I would like to have the amount of sauces to be to be customer prefer - someone want their dish more sauce and cream and others want less calories. I think Halal Guys, though further away, is much better value in terms of protein provided and they also do it to your taste/preference for sauce and spice/heat. Wait for food was about 20 more minutes than I would have thought expected for takeout place. Customer service here is...
