My family and I absolutely LOVE Indian food! So when on vacation in Virginia Beach we searched for a place that could satisfy our craving and Masala Bites popped up on google. Based on all of the highly recommended reviews, we decided to give them a try.
Surprisingly, the restaurant was packed for it being a weekday. They had a large party too so I think that didn't really help with the wait times. We were seated right away but after that the service really went downhill. The waitress took a while to come by and get our order, after that she really didn't check in on us at all.
It's really the food that saved them from getting a lower rating! My husband and I got their Pavbhaji Spiced Samosa for appetizer and their Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan for our main dish. Everything was delicious! The curry was a tad bit spicy but we did order it medium, so if you like a lot of spice then get it that way! Other than that I'm sure mild would have sufficed. Their samosas were perfectly seasoned and the filling was just the right amount. The garlic naan was the perfect pairing with their curry dish also.
The only downside was that the service wasn't very good and the food took quite a while to come out. But I enjoyed the food! Hopefully they can increase their staff so customers aren't waiting for long periods of time. 3 stars for delicious...

I stopped by Masala Bites for lunch today. The interior of the restaurant was very well done and classy, which initially made me a little worried, thinking maybe they had chosen style over substance. This concern was quickly alleviated. The Host and server were both very friendly and helpful. I was seated immediately and water was brought over. If you are looking for an Indian buffet, this place is not it. The lunch menu offers either À la carte or a combination including a starter (soup, salad, appetizer) and a meal. I ordered the chaat of the day which is a kind of Indian street food. Today it was garlic grilled chicken and it was very good. For the main course I ordered chicken vindaloo at a hot spice level. The meal comes with naan and while there is no garlic naan on the menu they will get it for you if you want it. The chicken vindaloo was delicious, nice and spicy with a great taste. The naan was also excellent. The total price for the meal not including drink was $10. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! I will...
Read moreThe staff is very professional and also kind. They give you the space you desire on a date while still being quite friendly. The food is stunning. I mean stunning. My wife and I make indian food at home all the time but this place has such a variety of indian food from so many different regions it's well beyond the capability of your average home chef. If you're open to trying new regions of indian cooking or just want a really well cooked classic indian dish then this is the spot for you. I got the 5 level spicy sagwaala lamb, it was killer. I recommend 3 level spicy for an average indian food regular but if you like spicy food they managed to pull of the 5 in a way that penetrates the pallet without compromising flavor. They noticed it was my wife's birthday and noticed we were gluten free so they brought us a free gluten free cake. We made up for the freeness in the tip but we REALLY appreciated the gesture and we'll be going back + bringing...
