Arby's — Restaurant in Virginia

The food's good.

I'll miss the old restaurant layout, before the remodeling -- not many Arby's locations had a tree growing in the middle of it -- and the new version is definitely a different vibe. Went from a sort of comfortably retro atmosphere to a very much modernized look. Not that it's a bad thing. The restaurant was very clean, bustling with staff. I've eaten here several times, and can confirm that the food is decent quality. I'd forgotten how much I liked the strawberry shakes.

My only quibble with the updated store layout (and I've noticed this in other Arby's locations, too) is the fact that the menu, instead of being blazoned across the wall up above the cash registers, is instead printed on these little placards below eye level. It's harder to read while standing in line, thinking over what sort of food to order. Once you get to the front of the line, there's the pressure of having to order so you don't hold up the customers behind you. I assume this change was mandated by corporate -- if there's any way to make menus easier to read (maybe by having pamphlet versions that people could pick up at the door? used to be done at some places, but obviously impractical while COVID is around), that would be wonderful.

Also, the cookies are still nice, but I can remember they tasted much better when I was a kid. Not like that's the main attraction, here. The important thing is the sandwiches, and those are still good. (My typical order: beef and cheddar, with potato cakes, and then stick the potato cakes inside the sandwich for the added texture and flavor. I've still been able to order potato cakes at several Arby's locations, and the news that Arby's was discontinuing the item came as a bad shock. Tell corporate to bring them back! Visiting Arby’s for the first time in years turned out to be a delightful experience. The staff member at the register displayed remarkable patience and friendliness, making the process of familiarizing myself with the menu and understanding the various sauce options a breeze without any signs of frustration.

The cleanliness of the establishment stood out distinctly, even outshining reputed chains such as Chick-fil-A. A spotless environment paired with accommodating service laid a positive groundwork for the meal to come.

Despite the bustling lunch hour and a long drive-through queue that necessitated a walk-in, the waiting time was reasonable. I opted for the boneless wings, half expecting them to be just glorified chicken nuggets, but I was pleasantly surprised. They surpassed the offerings at renowned spots like BWW and Dave & Buster's, striking a chord of satisfaction with their taste and texture.

The one drawback was the mingling of fries and wings in the same basket, causing the wing sauce to blend with the fries. While not a deal-breaker, a separation could enhance the dining experience.

Person who took our order a young Man name, Kareem. He was excellent!! So many times you go into a fast food restaurant and the staff appear worn out, stressed and not happy to see you. I always feel so bad for them. Fast food industry is a hard hard business. Often the person right in front of you has one of the hardest jobs, in the restaurant and is getting paid the smallest wage in that same restaurant. That is a common occurrence in most American enterprises. Back to Kareem, 1st he had a big smile, He said Hello. He could hear us, we didn't have to repeat everything we said in triplicate. He repeated our order back to us and it was RIGHT!! Kareem was excellent because he couldn't have been better. Our food was hot and tasted fresh. Enjoyed every part of our meal.
