Been going to this place for years. That ended today however. I first noticed when walking in that my shoes were virtually sticking to the floor with every step like I had residual adhesive on the soles. Apparently they rarely mop thoroughly out in the dining area but have brand new tables. I got my usual C9 General Tsos Combination with pork fried rice and egg roll. The second piece of chicken I bit into after carrying the meal home there was a loud crunch sound in my mouth and I knew it was a foreign object immediately. I fished what was a small piece of rock out of my mouth and discovered that I had a chipped tooth. This was absolutely a piece of limestone rock and nothing else. I bagged it in a Ziploc and a couple hours later went back to the restaurant and presented it to them and told them what had happened. In broken English they simply told me that there was no way that had happened. I showed them the chipped tooth as well while they insisted nothing happened. The only thing I can figure is that the kitchen is as dirty as the dining area, and there is a back door they use to go in and out of for smoke breaks etc. and small rocks are tracked into the kitchen area. Apparently one of the pieces of chicken hit the floor while tossing in the sauce and it was picked up and placed back in the bowl. Otherwise the supplier of the sauce is to blame but I feel that is not the case. If you were ever to step foot into the kitchen there I doubt you would ever eat there again. Just from peering into it from the counter it looks disgusting. There was ZERO remorse or apology presented by the one person there who speaks English and typically runs the counter. All she kept saying was no no no, we never have rock here. Sorry, but you did and I have dental damage now and will never return simply due to the response I received. Had they been the slightest bit remorseful I would possibly have continued being a patron. It will be tough to not go back but I have other options with better food nearby, and I doubt I'd get the same response from any other legitimate restaurant in the area. I wasn't even looking for my money back. I wonder if they would have denied it also had I been dining in right in...
Read moreThis has been one of the most recommended Chinese restaurants around for years, but when I tried it for the first time in years tonight, I was very disappointed. I got general tso combination plate and crab ragoons. Sadly, only the egg rolls and fried rice was edible out of all the food I got. The crab ragoons tasted weird and the breading was so chewy and hard at the same time I could barely take a bite, didn't taste fresh or authentic. The chicken had gristle or other strange chewiness to every single piece, the sauce was congealed and also had a very strange taste to it, not spicy as menu advertised, no flavor besides that weird chemical after taste. I couldn't eat any of my chicken and it was the main dish. Everything tasted either pre made and reheated or straight up store bought/frozen and heated. Nothing tasted fresh or authentic, I'm left still hungry and disappointed 😞 The only perk is their food was fairly cheap which is good since my money was wasted. I would not recommend this...
Read moreStopped by Best Wok while helping a friend do a job in Troutville. Ordered a medium "Szechuan River Pork" for almost $6. When I asked for a side of vegetables the girl charged me for a completely different meal & didn't explain what she was doing. Was charged a total of $13. When I questioned her, she ignored me. Then she suddenly acted surprised & handed me back $3.25. When I asked questions she ignored me. She didn't reply to 1 of my questions. Never provided w/ receipt either. If I wasn't in a hurry to get out of there, I would have tried to get to the bottom of things. Won't return because they try to confuse you & charge you for something more expensive.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice...
