Went around 630 pm on Veteran's Day on a Saturday night. The place was very busy, still plenty of parking. Got seated within minutes of telling the hostess how many were in our group, 2 of us. My GF and I are bigger people and the girl who sat us, sat us at a table that had a wall behind it and the table was full in front of us, so we were barely able to squeeze in and there wasn't much adjusting to be had. Our waitress arrived quickly, took our drink order, and then returned shortly and took our food order. Probably 5 minutes passed before our biscuits and Apple Butter(.50 cents extra) hit the table, 3 minutes after that our food order arrived in lightening fast speed. She had the Meatloaf with three sides, Mac 'N Cheese, Fried Apples, and hasbrown casserole. I ordered the 4 piece fried chicken with Mac 'N Cheese and Fried Okra. Her food was good, but my fried chicken showed as a golden brown color in the menu but was a dark brown color and looked burnt when I got it. I promptly told the waitress who got the manager. I explained the situation to the manager, and he apologized and took my meal off the bill and asked if I wanted something else or a new one. I didn't want either and instead pulled all of the burnt and mangled Fried chunks off my chicken. You can see the results in my included pics. I may or may not go back, the biscuits were delicious though as was the tea and my fried Okra. Mac N Cheese was very soupy. Staff were super friendly though and restaurant was clean and gift shop was tidy.

The pot roast and pot roast casserole were great. The loaded baked potatoe was hard. I'm not sure if it was under or overcooked, it was unedible. The utensils were another story. After 8 sets of utensils that were filthy in various forms of food and smudge, the manager gave us plastic utensils and pulled the entire crate of silverware from the hostess station to be rewashed. We even heard a youmg lady go eeewww that her silverware was dirty. She decided to roll her pancakes and eat them with her hands. We didn't blame her one bit. Peach cobbler is heated peaches over a pie crust cracker that's 1/4" thick with no flavor. There was an apology from 1 of the managers and they took off the potatoe that I didn't eat. The waitress said it was the hostess who wraps the silverware and she should have checked. The checkout gal said that's wrong it's the waitress' who wrap. Starts with the dishwasher and ends with management not doing their jobs. My wife went to use the ladies room and it was filthy not a days use filthy, an iver time filthy. This restaurant needs the board of health to come and do a thorough inspection. This is a prime example if how hepatitis is spread. Very disappointed in this visit. This visit deserves a call from regional management.

My wife and I have been to Cracker Barrel restaurants up and down the east coast for years. This Cracker Barrel is far and away the best, most efficient location we have ever been to. After the obligatory 15 minute wait to be seated, we were greeted by Stephanie, who was fantastic in her personality and demeanor. We ordered our meals, and 10 minutes later they arrived at our table even though the restaurant was packed. The food was delicious! We can't say enough about Stephanie. She was attentive, hard working, personable and a real pro. Suggestion to Cracker Barrel corporate: hire this delightful young lady at the national level to train servers and wait staff. She is the epitome of grace, hard work, customer appreciation and customer service. A great experience!

Same great food, service, and atmosphere as my last visit, about a year ago at this location. We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday and were immediately seated with quick service. My dining partner and I both ordered the sampler meal, after noting it was more economical than the regular meal price, but with the same food choices and portion size. I enjoyed the Meat Loaf and Chicken n Dumplings, with Mac and Cheese, and Hash Brown Casserole. Everything was hot, tasty, and delicious, except the Mac and Cheese was a little runny and lacked a real cheese flavor. Hot Rolls and Cornbread were tasty, with real butter! The service and attention was excellent! As usual, I enjoyed browsing the gift shop for wonderous holiday gift options. Great food and service, with enough leftover goody bag food for another meal! Sorry, we were so hungry, no photos of the food today!

11/28/2024 Thanksgiving Day Going on Thanksgiving, we knew it would be crowded, but it was a totally huge crowd. Waited 1 hour & 40 minutes for a table, but after ordering, the food came very quickly, and wow, it was delicious! Turkey was tender and juicy with a flavorful gravy, tasty dressing, green beans needed a dash of salt, sweet potato casserole was sweet with cinnamon and spices, and cranberry sauce provided the balance to offset the sweet. Biscuits were hot and flaky made ever better with real butter. The peach tea was very sweet, but so delicious. Had to bring pumpkin pie home for later. Waiting became challenging due to the amount of people crammed into the country store. The outside rocker area was full and cold with light rain, but the turnover was fast. I don't know if there is any time of day on Thanksgiving that would be the optimum time to arrive, as the crowd never decreased during our time there from 11:30am-3pm. I certainly was impressed with all the staff handling registering guests, seating, taking orders, cooking, serving, bussing, taking in payment and so much more! No one seemed stressed and all were friendly and efficient. Great job all Cracker...

I've enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrell just about every opportunity over the last 30+ years. My home Cracker Barrell in located in Mechanicsville, Virginia. My wife and I ran Christian Tours of Virginia for many years and always dined at Cracker Barrell's from 55 passenger buses throughout the country. During that time we rarely had and a negative experience with your excellent food choices, quality, or service . However, I stopped at your Cracker in Troutville, Virginia 2:30 on Saturday, December 9 and experienced a poor customer service experience. I was seated in the middle of the dining area and no one communicated with me for about 15 minutes until I checked first with the host and then the Manager. Both seemed unconcerned and I still waited for another five minutes for service. Someone finally took my order and I ordered a vegetable plate which I thought would be pretty easy to serve. Several people that were seated well after me ahd been waited on prior to me and a few had already received their meals. The assigned waitress seemed preoccupied and seemed to ignore me when I wanted to inquire about how long it may be before receiving my meal. Some time later I finally received my meal with no bread...which came later. My waitress never returned to my table to check to see if everything was OK until she left to ticket. My wife, myself, and my family all love Cracker Barrell and sometimes have family group meals at the Mechanicsville, Virginia location. My concern is that if this recent event had been my first experience with Cracker Barrell, it may have been my last. Thank you all of the excellent visits over the...

Update on 2/16/2025 from previous review five years ago. Either management, quality or both have changed hands the last five years. The last two years have been solidly disappointing whichever way we dine. We have had to send back almost all take home meals because of lack of portioning, several plates have been returned back to us with a stir or quick dab of whatever side was missing, and take out orders are always wrong. Between background noise and language barriers with call-ins more times than not those that answer the phone are hard to understand or cant understand you. Food quality has went down. Small example, forget a baked macaroni and cheese, it is soupy Stoufers comparable slop. Customer service in store has went down. Waitresses do not have a personality and do the bare minimum. Decorations have been taken down and are lacking in quantity compared to previous years making for a noisier dining room even when sparsely occupied and table lamps are never lit in the evenings. This establishment has went downhill vastly the last ten years and makes me wish I was a teenager again.

merican food in a cozy setting with ample vintage decorations, serving breakfast, lunch and supper. Can get very crowded on weekends especially after church services on Sunday. Food is good, service is usually good and there's plenty of things to distract you and catch your eye in the shop if you are waiting on a table. There is seating out front in rocking chairs, that are also available for purchase. Can accomodate large groups and also has seating areas for two in the dining room, complete with...
