It isn't often that something graces my palate to the point of me wanting me to write a raving review on something I ate, but that all changed when I had lunch at the Brass Cannon. I was in the DC metropolitan area for a recent business trip when my colleagues and I agreed to call it an evening and head out for dinner. We had been traveling for a few days and were always pressed for time so our choices were always something easy and quick like a chain restaurant, but tonight we had time to kill and wanted a change of pace. We came across the Brass Cannon on a quick Google search. We noticed it was located on a golf course so we were hesitant at first but a local had overheard us discussing it and had said to us, "Yo! That Brass Cannon joint is dope AF!" It was enough to convince us to give it a whirl. We arrived to the clubhouse where we were greeted with great hospitality. The manager Gregory was very welcoming and ensured us that the drinks and food were excellent and we would not be disappointed. He sat us and had the waitress come over and take our order. The drinks were fantastic and the bar was well stocked with a variety of liquors, but the drink menu was all that we needed. Their house drinks were all very good and we were all greatly satisfied. I ordered the double smoked pork chop. It was one of the best things I have eaten. It was cooked to perfection and packed full of flavor. It was served with a bed of southern style collard greens and a maple bourbon glaze. They complimented eachother like an orchestra performing a beethoven symphony in my mouth. For dessert I indulged and got myself the bread pudding which I have to admit was difficult not to go to the back and kiss the chef on the mouth. It would have been very easy to engorge myself and spend the rest of my life eating this dessert. Overall, I would have to say that the service and food deserve more than 5 stars. Greg was very hospitable and the food still gives me cravings. If you are looking for a place to eat but you aren't very sure.. I just have to tell you, "Yo! That Brass Cannon joint...
Read moreMy wife wanted to try a new restaurant for her birthday and came across this restaurant. I was able to easily book a reservation for 7 people on their website. Received a reminder text the day before my reservation to final confirm my reservation. There weren't many people in the restaurant for our 5 PM reservation but the scenery (trees, golf course, lake Manassas) were awesome to look at. We felt welcomed as new guests to this restaurant. Throughout our time there, there were numerous high school prom couples that came into dine which was cool. The customer service experience was awesome as we were seated right away when we arrived. We were treated as valued patrons throughout our experience. The host was nice as we were seated. Other staff were nice throughout our time there. Our server Jacob was the ultimate professional as he took care of our table quite nicely inserting his personable (humor, getting our orders right and ensuring we were okay throughout) touch. He was assertive and accommodating to our table making my wife's birthday dinner memorable for all. One person in our party wasn't too happy with their meal (the pork chop was very dry and not tasty) and Jacob took care of it with no hesitation by allowing the option for a different meal to be made. Our meals and desserts were delicious. The only problem I had with the desserts was the portions were small for the $7 price. Our server Jacob was nice enough to even take a picture outside of our group. Very happy we found this restaurant and have another restaurant added to our list to eat at again...
Read moreA sublime dining experience. From the atmosphere to the cleanliness to the sheer luxuriousness of the food itself. Hands down the best food outside of the immediate DC area. Service was above excellent as well. My first visit to many restaurants of late has also been my last. This will definitely be the first of hopefully many!
Update: While off-golf season is just as described above, in-season is slightly different. The food was almost just as good (the main chef was out sick or something and the quality was slightly less than normal). The main problem (and it was indeed a HUGE problem) was the rowdiness of the very very large groups of inebriated people. It's been two hours since I left and my ears are still ringing. There was a larger group next to us who were older and several of them were literally cupping their ears at times because the volume of one group was so incredibly loud it was uncalled for. The main group in question should clearly have been cutoff hours prior (they had been there at least two hours just drinking, no food whatsoever and there were several who were beyond obviously drunk). At the minimum, they should have been offered another room entirely. The restaurant was losing business because people were obviously leaving without ordering after-dinner drinks or desserts. A second group entered and they felt the need to yell over the first group. Altogether, it sounded like we were at a death metal concert.
In the future, I will certainly come to Brass Cannon, but I will be second guessing that decision whereas before tonight I...
