China Wok — Restaurant in Virginia

Here's the deal....I wanted so badly to give this place a 5 star review because I liked the food that much. It was so fresh but ask yourself why so fresh? Talking about my experience and my experience alone I think it's due to them not starting my order until I arrived in store for pickup. I was the only customer in the store and no one was cooking anything in back. Two people (man & woman) came to the window at check out and looked at my receipt where I pre-ordered on line. I thought it was odd they didn't give an option to pay during checkout. Anyways once they saw what I ordered off my phone they went to work and had my order ready in about 45min. I had fried dumplings and an egg roll. I'm no master chef but unless they hand rolled the egg roll and prepared the dumplings before frying I think it should have been a shorter time. I have to wonder how long the wait time would have been if they were actually busy? Anyways if you have time to kill and want some tasty take out give them a try. We ordered 3 things. First, eggroll. Pretty good. Second, wonton soup. Broth is slightly above average, and the "crunchies" are my favorite type, but the wontons were undercooked, so I couldn't eat those. Third, Double Cooked Pork. Very mushy cabbage, and it's roast pork, which isn't even remotely what double cooked pork is. I've also never had a double cooked pork with carrots, which I'd have asked to leave out had the menu stated they were in the dish, and they threw off the flavor of what double cooked pork should be. Fourth, Happy Family. It was unbelievably bland, and the brown sauce was one step above water. I didn't have high standards, as it's a takeout place, but I was a bit let down even by those standards. Prices, however, are a definite plus, so mediocre food at a good price isn't all bad, but I'm not interested in ordering again...

Food is delicious but wait time is ridiculous. They tell you 20-25 minutes and you wait an hour. They need to be honest about the wait time so you can come when it is almost ready and no problem. Charge for the order when you order so they are not stuck. Every time I order I have to wait an hour or more when I arrive when I was told 20-25 minute. I have walked out twice due to having people waiting to eat at my home and have gone to pick up pizza. Again, delicious food and wonderful people but terrible food time. Also, they need to update the restaurant, I have several friends say they would never eat food from there due to the awful looking atmosphere on the inside. Sorry, but am trying to find another...
