Red Rooster Country Store — Restaurant in Virginia

My wife thoroughly enjoyed the country ham from this establishment. She was in bed with a muscle sprain in her shoulder and requested "A good country ham sandwich." After a quick internet search (we haven't lived in the area for terribly long) I came across Red Rooster Country Store. The menu seemed easy to navigate and the prices were great so we went for it! Red Rooster did not disappoint. We often joke that my wife is a "Country Ham Connoisseur," and while she loves the stuff, she is rarely impressed. Well, the country ham sandwich and biscuits from Red Rooster were a big hit! She loved the saltiness but also the thinness of the meat. The bread was nice and thick, toasted just enough that it wasn't super hard. This place is definitely a winner in our book, and if she has her way then we will most likely become regulars! Called in an order during the present "stay at home" rule. Carolyn was very helpful in assisting me to find the food and gift items I needed. When I asked her to find some little toy or candy for my great-grandchild she picked the perfect items and even put a big bow on the bag. As soon as I pulled up to the store she came out and loaded everything for me with a big smile. There was a notice on the door saying only one customer at a time can enter. So nice to have her do all the shopping for me and then load it...

Is there an option for 5 HUNDRED stars?? What a sweet place! Excellent sandwiches - we had chicken salad, grilled cheese, and ham/cheese/apple. Potato salad, macaroni salad also good. Peanut butter brownie sundae with their homemade peanut butter. 😋 We bought some country ham to take home. That was really good, too, and I don't usually care for it.
