First time visit at this location . Had a wonderful waitress Phillis , but to see her so over whelm doing a table of 10 of us then another table of 10 behind us all by herself was just unfair to her . I could see in her eyes tears holding back doing the best she could for 20 people but she kept that smile . Then the kitchen mix up all the food in the back making are wait of food over a hour and cold and missing things when we got it . I even went and got drinks for us to help out because no way this lady Phillis could do all this on her own . Until the manager told me not to go behind the counter which I respected her on that but I told her to help Phillis this is not right . So she finally did for like 5 miniutes then disappear again to the back . My pancakes had fried onions in it I didn't even get to enjoy them thank goodness I was not alergic to onions. We did not want to complain much knowing Phillis was under so much and doing all she could . So after 3 hours , cold food, wrong food, no refills unless I did it and one waitress to 20 people at one time and poor management and poor kitchen staff I don't think we will visit again . Not sure how this business will make it like this. Understaffed completely . Only best thing from this experience was Phillis . Anyone else would of walk out but she didn't . God bless her . You need more employees like Phillis . And for god sake get your...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I have ever had! If I could give this review a negative number I would. This is my first review I have ever written in my 54 years on this earth but this needs to be said. Where to start, the Waitress was seen briefly a whole 3 times we were at the restaurant (i.e. to take our order, bring out our food and finally, finally bring our check). My wife had to get her own condiments and napkins because after she brought the food we did not see her for 35 minutes!!! There were only 2 other families in the restaurant so did not understand this. Next was the food if you want to call it food!!! I ordered a simple blueberry pancake breakfast and absolutely everything was way, way overcooked!! I ordered over easy eggs and they were cooked so much that they were actually dry through and through, the bacon was burnt, the hash browns could of been used as a spare tire and the pancakes were hard #@$$@@!!! My wife ordered a bourbon burger meal and again everything was way over cooked (not going to belabor the point again as I think you get the picture). I did mention some of this to the cashier but she did not offer to make anything right. I guess we could have demanded to see the Manager but we were so aggravated by this time that we just left. Long time patron of Denny's but no more. They were actually good many years ago. My advice is stay away...
Read moreI recently stopped at Denny’s in Ruther Glen while traveling through Virginia, and it turned out to be a great choice for a road trip break. The location is right off the highway, making it super convenient for travelers who want a reliable stop without going too far out of the way. 🚗☕
The service was warm and welcoming — the staff was attentive and quick, even during a busy stretch. My server made sure coffee was always topped off, which every traveler knows is essential on a long drive. The atmosphere felt comfortable, with plenty of seating and a clean dining area that offered a nice chance to relax and recharge before getting back on the road.
The food was exactly what you’d hope for from a dependable diner: hearty, flavorful, and consistent. Breakfast classics came out hot, with fluffy pancakes and eggs done just right, and the coffee was fresh and strong — perfect for fueling the next leg of a trip. 🍳🥞
What makes this spot stand out is how traveler-friendly it is. Open 24/7, easy to access, and consistently good, it’s the kind of place you can count on whether you’re passing through early morning or late at night.
Overall, this Denny’s is an excellent stop for anyone on the road. It may not be a “destination restaurant,” but it offers exactly what travelers need: dependable food, friendly service, and a welcoming place to take a break before continuing...
