I am usually very satisfied when ordering from here! In fact, I have always been a loyal patron of Edy's Chicken & Steak. I have been been coming here for 25+ years since I moved here from Peru. I love the rotisserie chicken and it has been a regular place for me and my family. However, the service has not always been the greatest. For someone like me who has been a regular customer, coming here at least twice a week (sometimes more) for 25 years, the customer service I have received has lacked appreciation and at times people have been somewhat rude. Today, for the very first time, I had a really bad experience with how I was treated. I placed a phone order for pickup as I normally do. The lady who took the order told me to give her 20 minutes and we did. I got there, went to the register and paid for my order. And as I waited for my order number to be called, this lady behind the counter was calling me to let me know my order was ready. As I approached the counter, the girl at the register asked me if I also ordered for some guy named "Daniel" and I had to pay for that order. I told her no. I didn't order anything for anyone. I repeated my order back to them and that's the order that I paid for which totaled $30. Then this lady behind the counter starts to argue with me and tells me that she took the order and I did in fact placed 2 separate orders one under my name, and the other under some guy's name. I told her no. I said sorry but I think you may have confused the orders. I mean, why would I place an order and not want to get it?? Who does that? Then she insists and argues that I'm wrong! And tells me that I did in fact place 2 orders! I told her no again. I told her that I am a regular customer and she could ask anyone working there. They all know me by name. I would never do that. Now, I had never seen this lady before. But at that moment she told me "I am the owner!". I said "ok. I have been coming here for a long time. I have never met you before, but I am a regular customer." She insists that she is the owner and she has been the owner for a long time. She tells me that she owns the the business for 30 years. And she insisted that she took the order over the phone and that once again I was wrong and once again insinuated that I was a liar. I guess she thinks that being the owner of the establishment gives her the right to treat her customers that way and show disrespect by calling them liars. I felt very offended. I just told her that I was leaving with my order, the order I paid for and that was that. I never write bad reviews for anyone ever, but I felt very disrespected this time and it was really a bad experience. As the owner of such an establishment, she should want to try to get to know who her regular customers are and show appreciation for their patronage and loyalty for all these years. Not make them feel like their business doesn't matter and that...

I ordered the half chicken white meat only which came with Yucca and a side salad as well as a can soda. Total was $16, for $16 this is a lot of high quality food.
Let’s start with the chicken. I’ve had the mainstays of Peruvian chicken more west of here like Super Chicken and Pollo Peru. This blows it out of the water. Impeccably juicy and fresh, the seasonings on the skin were impactful but not over bearing. Easily one of the best pure chicken’s I’ve had. Sauce is optional.
Next up, the yucca. The yucca was fresh, light and airy and crispy. It wasn’t greasy or soaked with oil. Only thing is, it comes unsalted, which is fine, just remember to add your own salt if you want. It doesn’t need salt and it is great to dip in their sauce.
The sauces seem like the regular green/yellow that most peruvian places have, but they are not. First they call their yellow a “white sauce” which it is a much brighter shade of yellow compared to other spots. The sauce is a bit thinner and also tastes like it has a bit of sugar in it. It’s delicious nonetheless and addictive to use with their chicken and yucca. The green sauce doesn’t appear to have mayo in it, which other peruvian places do, it’s a delicious herby and spicy alternative to the yellow and helps cleanse your palate which a new flavor.
The salad was not memorable or special, but who cares, it’s nice of them to give it.
The service is quick, efficient, and no nonsense. I will have to return to try their other items although I am disappointed that there doesn’t appear to be any Saltado dish...
Read moreEdy’s Chicken and Steak is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite spots! I’ve been a loyal customer since the mid-90s, and their food has always been worth every mile of the journey. Back when I lived in Maryland, I would happily drive an hour to Virginia just to enjoy their incredible chicken sandwiches. Now that I live in California, it’s become a tradition to go straight from the airport to Edy’s whenever I’m back in town—and let me tell you, the taste is just as amazing as it was decades ago.
The quality and consistency of their food are unmatched. Every bite takes me right back to the first time I tried it. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection but the chicken sandwiches are what I go for. The flavors are timeless and comforting, a true testament to their dedication to excellence.
Beyond the food, the staff is another reason Edy’s stands out. They are always warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, making every visit feel special. It’s rare to find a place that not only serves exceptional food but also treats you like family.
Edy’s Chicken and Steak is a gem that has stood the test of time, and I’m so grateful for all the delicious memories they’ve given me. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and make the...
