Golden House — Restaurant in Virginia

This was by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had! I never leave reviews for anything, but I wanted to spare someone else from wasting their money. I ordered 3 items (Mongolian Beef, Shrimp Chow Mein, and Spring Rolls). I got the spring roll for spending $20 or more btw. So as soon as I received my food and immediately noticed something was wrong. The so called shrimp chow mein was nothing but very small shrimp in a bathtub of water and cabbage, with very, very thin carrots and onions. The cabbage was very old looking and cooked to death in what appears to be nothing but water. I mean this crap didn’t have the first taste of any kind of seasoning on it. I literally poured out two cups of water into a separate dish just to show my spouse. Then I called the restaurant to ask why they didn’t put any noodles with the dish, as it clearly advertises to have. She stated they don’t serve noodles with that dish, and when I told her the app states otherwise she simply didn’t care. I literally paid $15 for a few shrimp in a bathtub of watered down cabbage. The Mongolian beef was equally as bad regarding flavor, and don’t even get me started on those oil sponges they call ‘spring rolls’. Inedible to say the least. This was the first time we had ordered any Chinese/takeout in almost two years and we regretted every bit of it!

I only make it a point to leave reviews when it is absolutely called for, and this is one of those 'golden' times. ;)

The outstanding customer service I received at Golden Restaurant truly deserves to be highlighted. On an especially hot day, I walked in and was immediately offered a cold bottled water—completely free of charge. It was such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the rest of my visit.

When I called ahead to place an order for shrimp fried rice with customization (no msg, light on the soy sauce, very little oil), they listened intently and even repeated my requests so I can verify. Lo and behold, they delivered exactly what I asked for—the dish was cooked perfectly to my liking!

It’s rare these days, especially at a mostly pick-up-style restaurant, to find staff who are not only helpful but genuinely considerate and accommodating. The quality of service here goes far beyond expectations. I’ll definitely be returning—and recommending them to friends and family. Service like this deserves to...

ROACHES !!! If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered for delivery. The food took an hour to get here mind you I live 10 minutes away when I finally got the food and opened the bag. There was a cockroach laying right at the top. $45 later. $45 down the drain. They yelled at me on the phone when I asked for a refund, said that I couldn’t be them or their store with the roaches must be my house ?!?! I told them come inspect my house. It’s spotless never had roaches mice. Nothing but I told him let me go down and record and walk around the store . So I went there brought the food back had my camera on and they just gave me a refund and gave me attitude, but before I had a camera on, they refuse to give me a refund. NASTY...
