I just ate here so my thoughts are fresh, unlike their fries.
Decided to stop in and grab some takeout.
I ordered the 1/2 chicken with fries and rice + beans on the side. However, the lady taking the order could obviously not understand the order, which I had to repeat 4 times. She had no trouble getting the chicken, but somehow thought I wanted a double order of fries, besides me saying I did not. It felt like talking to Comcast. I eventually said "ok, whatever" because it was getting to that point where it seemed super awkward with her staring blankly at me as I tried to carefully articulate that I wanted two sides, not two orders of the same side.
The food itself was overall fairly decent. The chicken was tasty and cooked well. The rub they put on it (and possible brine) was very flavorful. The fries, as mentioned, did not seem fresh and were kind of soggy, and I had like a half pound of them to boot. The sauces were both very tasty, although very thick, which made getting it out of the plastic cups somewhat difficult.
The place seemed clean and the prices and selections were clearly marked.
The price was not bad, but not great. about 10% more than it should have been.
Final scores: Service: 2/10 Food: 7/10 Atmosphere:...
Read moreFor the record, my husband and I only order chicken, yucca fries, and plantains when we come here, so bear that in mind.
The chicken: 5/5 stars. It's always flavorful, fall-off-the-bone tender. Yucca Fries: At this point I've only ever had them fried to order for us, which makes them extra delicious. Fried plantains: Usually pretty good.
It might be a King Pollo chain thing, but it kills me that they don't have the pink/orange Rocoto sauce they have at other joints. I like the other sauces ok, but rocoto has the best flavor-- really wish they would offer it here (even as an upcharge! Yes, I would pay for it!) I have taken to making it from scratch at home from time to time.
Service: The staff is friendly and never has a problem getting our order together. This place can get busy, however, and the lines can be long during dinner hours.
The one thing that bugs me about this place is that layout makes it so you can see EVERYTHING in the kitchen, and the staff don't seem to be on top of keeping their kitchen tidy. Chicken ties, and dropped fries litter the floor... it's just kind of a mess. They should try to keep in cleaner since it's in plain view of...
Read moreI stopped here for an ubereats order and had to come back after delivering it. You could smell the chicken wafting into the parking lot when you walk up. I got the Pollo saltado if I remember correctly, with yuca and beans and rice. Absolutely bomb chicken with a whole lotta flavor. Its a good meal for your buck which I appreciate in this economy. I also got a Tamarind drink that lasted me the rest of the afternoon. I think I sipped it slowly because I was scared of finishing it, it was so good. The atmosphere wasn't really my vibe, and that's okay. I didn't get the name of the guy that served me, bald guy, but he was funny and kindly communicative. There were also a few lads watching a soccer match in the lobby, but other than them there was nobody. If I have one regret after visiting here, it's that I didn't sit inside and watch that game while I ate. Overall, coming from someone who's usually too scared to try new restaurants, I'm glad I tried this one. Will definetly be stopping here again to try the rest of the menu and see if I can't learn a thing or two...
