Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Virginia

My lunch bud and I enjoy a bit of fish occasionally and Long John Silver's on Lee Hwy off Exit 5 is convenient, easy in and out, and has their typical served hot and quickly dishes. We had a flyer with coupons, another plus. Now I'll admit that the fish plate at Drake's can't be beat very easily, but for the price, and given that I've been eating at this chain since 1970, it always suits my taste buds. I get a craving for LJS periodically. This was one of them. My order was up about the time I got my receipt after running my card through the slot. I had the 2-piece fish dinner with fries, and added a 3 piece of shrimp. The fish was hot. Cooked perfectly, the cooking oil was fresh, and my fries were tasty and had the right amount of salt. The shrimp was typically light breading and not overcooked. My bud had the fish and chicken platter. He was almost silent as he pounded his down with only a short break for a sip of ice water. He was happy! As fast food goes, LJS has always seemed to me just a bit better and pretty much in the top 3 of fast food for me. Yes, I scored a 4. That's tops for fast food as far as I'm concerned. They're always so nice here! I walk with a leg brace and I have a service dog who helps me walk. The staff here always offer to help me get my drink and utensils. Even if my plate is ready while I'm doing this, they still bring it out for me - even when I'm with my husband. They almost always offer to get some water for my dog for when we go back to the car.

The food is consistently hot and fresh. I do water down the tea though. My husband really likes it but it's a little strong for me.

The only thing that I don't like is the side parking lot where the handicapped spaces are. It's cracked and rough. I'm always concerned that I'll stumble or my dog get something in his paw. The front parking lot is much better. I always try to park there.

Ordered fish and chicken platter at 8:16pm, was told there would be a wait on chicken. Waited 10-15 minutes, went around drive through again and to tell them I didn't get my food. Was told there were 3 cars in front of me (there were not) but would bring out to the front. Gave it 5 more minute's or so, finally went inside to get a refund. Had to wait another 5 minutes for the Manger to refund me, after having to explain again why I wanted my refund. Place seemed clean enough, but service was bad.
