Montclair Chinese Cuisine — Restaurant in Virginia

We continue our search for a very good Chinese restaurant within a 15 mile radius of Montclair. Some are just ok and some are terrible. None are phenomenal. This place is by far the worst.

Today was my first time ordering from Montclair Chinese Cuisine. They fall into the TERRIBLE category. Looks good but taste is vile. If I could give them zero stars I would. I just spent $39 for 2 orders of pork fried rice, lo mein, the Hunan Chicken lunch special, and an order of spring rolls (which were free). First I immediately noticed the color of the food was way off. The fried rice is mushy, awful tasting, and left a film at the back of my throat. The hunan chicken is also mushy and has a very weird taste. The lo mein is gummy and bitter tasting. The spring rolls were edible. I actually feel nauseous after eating a very small portion of the food. Even my 19 y/o grandson said it was bad. All of it is going in the garbage. What a waste of good money.

My recommendation -...

The good - Decent food when compared to other local Chinese take out. My co workers and I order have ordered here a few times after work.

The bad - They consistently miss items on our order which are covered by their coupons. Very annoying to have part of your meal, or someone’s entire meal, missing. This is several times now and they do nothing to remedy the situation unless you choose to go pick it up, forgetting you paid for delivery and the mistake is on their end. There’s either a customer service issue that needs to be addressed (yet is constantly ignored) or they hope people will order and not care if their “free” item is missed. If you do care, then the restaurant will inconvenience you. I hope the owner realizes that groups sometimes order based off a restaurant’s coupons and when you don’t honor them, they won’t frequent your establishments. We...

Ordered the lunch special today (General Tso Chicken, chicken shrimp egg roll and the noodles with chicken). The only positive thing I can say about my food today is, it was hot.

Tasteless...the chicken was HARD, the noodles had no flavor and the egg rolls were also tasteless AND I didn't receive one of the egg rolls I ordered. One last thing.

The driver rang the door bell. When I opened the door, I found my food on the porch floor and she was heading back to her car. I said, "thank you." No reply. I repeated, "thank you." In a low irritated voice she said, "you welcome." Why was she angry with me? Maybe because I only gave a 10% tip? The restaurant had charged me a $2.00 delivery charge plus $1.00 processing fee.

This was my first and last time ordering from this place. I can't...
