Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Virginia

We ordered pizza at 5pm and they told us it would be delivered in 20 minutes. After 6pm we decided to call to get a status update. The man kept telling us it would be delivered and that it’s on its way. Around 745pm now, I call and a gentlemen (didn’t get his name) was the most rude customer service rep I’ve ever dealt with. He placed me on hold for 10 minutes. Then hung up on me. Then when I call back he says I need to handle this with door dash because this order was placed with them. He proceeds to hang up on me again. I call back upset and he says “Buddy, you need to talk to door dash…”. When I told him my aunt doesn’t have a door dash account and that we placed the order over the phone with your store he told me that when they are short on drivers they use door dash drivers and referred to it as my problem now. The most rude and unhelpful associate and this store was never like this. And to top it off, I call customer service and they locate our order and said it was created as a pick up order and it’s at the store ready for pick up….unbelievable. I want to give praise to our delivery driver tonight. William was our driver tonight, and they did something that went above and beyond what any other delivery driver, or service provider has done: they called to relay that they would be a few minutes late due to an accident.

William didn't need to do this. I wasn't even aware that the pizza had been dispatched, because I was doing another task. But they called and told me my food would be a few minutes late. That showed a level of caring, of consideration, and of customer service that warrants acknowledgement.

It also goes to show, at some level, William wanted to make sure we were taken care of; it also showed the state of how we treat the people that deliver our food. I hope this gets back to William and that they know I really appreciated the extra point of contact they made.

Usually, this is the best place to go to in the area for Papa John's. HOWEVER, a few weeks ago I ordered a pizza and some breadsticks, and I found a hair baked into one of the breadsticks. I called the next day because they were closed by the time I bit into it, and the young man on the line said he would credit my account for a free pizza. NEVER HAPPENED! Very disappointed in your lack of service. Three stars because this is the first time you've really messed up. I hope there's no repeat event of this.
