I happened upon Sandano's while visiting in the area. I love italian subs, this place was right up my alley. There was a note on the door stating online ordering could cause some delays for eat in orders. However, no one was around when I walked in. It was very quiet, but the restaurant looks like a good place to grab a sandwich & relax a while. Games were available on tables, and the seating appeared comfortable.
When I went up to order I explained it was my first time there. I was excited to learn you can choose your type of peppers for your sandwich! (Who doesn't love having hot pepper relish available as an option for an Italian sub?!) I askes if the 12" could be enough for lunch the next day too. I have fallen prey to getting a 12" that leaves one lacking in the leftovers arena. The person explained all sandwiches were over sized. I excitedly ordered.
When my 12" sandwich arrived, I found two 8" sandwiches in its place. The person packed one to eat right away, and one dry for eating next day so it wouldn't get soggy. He even shared a great tip on reheating the sandwich next day. I would never have thought of putting a sandwich in the microwave on defrost, but it totally worked!
The sandwich was really good. I wish the bread were a little more crusty, but everything was feash and tasty! The other sandwich (which ended up as lunch for the next two days) was great. I didnt have oil and vinegar for it, but it was still very tasty.
I didn't realize until later that the person who so kindly served me was the owner himself. I have already shared this place with others I know who love sandwiches. I can't wait to return to try all the other options of Italian subs and cheesesteaks they have to offer!
Update: still not disappointed by this place! The owner is great. Tonight I was able to introduce my family to sandwiches from this shop. They all had wonderful reviews! Stop by if you can, but if you know your order, call ahead or you could have to wait. This...
Read moreI visited Sandano’s on July 28th 2024 at 11:45 am and had an extremely disappointing experience. I went in to order two subs and asked for bell peppers. The young boy informed me they didn't have any, so I asked what toppings were available. Instead of providing a helpful response, they pointed to a menu board with small text that I couldn't read. When I asked for a list of the toppings, the young man at the register rudely refused, saying he wasn't about to read them all to me and implied that I should already know what toppings a sub shop typically has. He then turned his register around and told me to look and pick what I wanted. Because I’m not familiar with their back of house system it was hard to navigate and I selected items I didn’t want and didn’t know how to unselect.
Even more concerning, the owner, who was present and witnessed this interaction, did nothing to correct the behavior. Later, as I was discussing my experience with a friend over the phone, the same young man approached me and started yelling, saying no one had ever asked him to read the toppings before and insisting I should know them already. Again, the owner did nothing to address this unprofessional behavior.
I was the only customer in the shop, and it was not busy, so there was no reason for the staff to be so unhelpful and disrespectful. I simply wanted to know my options to make an informed decision about my sub, which I believe is a reasonable request. The attitude and lack of assistance from the staff, coupled with the owner's inaction, were unacceptable.
I will not be returning to Sandano’s and cannot recommend it to others. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and trains their staff to treat customers with respect and provide the information needed to...
Read moreMannnnn let me tell you...I was at work and approaching my lunch break when I had a sudden urge for an Italian hoagie! The Italian I was craving was not the typical Italian that you would normally get from a typical chain restaurant. I was starving, needed a good quality, meat falling off the bread type of hoagie. See I'm from up North (Philly) and needed that authentic hoagie that is worth every penny. I ended up literally googling "Italian subs near me". I scrolled through the search results...when I got to Sandano's and saw the pictures, Boy, I knew this was the place I had to try! I called and placed an order for pick up. I had an hour allocated for lunch and for me to take the trip to pick up the hoagie would be 20 mins there and back. Shoot, for what I saw in the picture, I had to do it. When I picked up my hoagie, 12" Italian, I was shocked due to the size of it. That in relation to the price paid, I was comfortable with it. I got back to my job with the hoagie to enjoy lunch. The moment I unwrapped it I knew this was exactly what I was looking for. Just like the pictures you see on other reviews. Meat falling off the roll. Authentic taste. Good bang for your buck. Stomach was satisfied! Like i said, i was starving and opted for the 12". The hoagie was made top notch that half of it satisfied my hunger craving and I can eat! I took the other half home for later and extremely pleased. I really hate paying for food only to be unsatisfied or still hungry, after. This was not the case with Sandano's. The Italian hoagie I had was A+. I will be...
