I don’t love writing negative reviews, but sometimes it’s the only way to reach management, so they can improve some specific issues. I came as a new customer yesterday. I was excited! I’d been wanting to try this place for a long time. I asked the beautiful staff what to recommend. I was surprised when she suggested chicken souvlaki. I was thinking about trying more traditional food. But she was strong in her recommendation and I wanted to get whatever she recommended. I put my choice on her hands. Interestingly, she did not try to suggestive sell other items in the menu or highlight the baklava, which was out of view on the other side of the shop. I would’ve bought it with a little nudge. She was preparing something glorious-looking in the fired oven (so awesome), but did not offer a way to purchase that amazing, fresh, food. She said it’s for freezing. So, I did the chicken souvlaki. And, I ate it driving home. It cost $10 and I gave a $2 tip. So, I was surprised when I unwrapped it and discovered a very slender burrito-like food with no additional sauces, sides, ie flair. And a very small portion. Worse - the chicken was DRY and the toppings were not evenly distributed, so there was nothing at all other than dry chicken and some potato in the first several bites. I was in shock. I found myself wondering - did she recommend this to get rid of the dry chicken? Why would you do that to a new customer? If not, why don’t you know enough to quality check before giving it to a customer? I was so disappointed. I had been so excited! Instead of immediately writing a review, I decided to do the courtesy of a call. I informed her that the chicken was very dry and she should not sell it to any other customer. She sort of apologized and said she’d ask the owner about it. No option for a discount in the future to make up for the poor product and show their authentic quality. No real thanks for the heads up. Ultimately, I think this staff person needs some serious additional training. She is a lovely, engaging, woman. But, my experience with the food and subsequent service was awful. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I broke down and wrote this review. Please improve because I really want to love this place and try some amazing food. Oh, and I want to be nudged into getting some...
Read moreThis is a bit of a tough one. In town visiting and really wanted to try some shwarma as I've never had it before. Dropped $50 on three orders of chicken and beef shwarma w/fries; it was absolutely delicious, full, flavorful - the wrap was soft, just phenomenal.
Unfortunately, there's an unexpected and crappy plot twist that really stained everything.
While we were there, my mother asked about and decided to order some of their platters for my sister's bday party instead of the usual wings and pizza.
We were told each platter would feed two/three people and she figured "perfect, there're only five of us, should be plenty of meat/rice for everyone, let's do it!" She ordered four of them and paid in advance.
Well, Saturday pickup comes round and we get four trays of rice with ten pieces of meat layed on top - that's it.
Essentially a standard platter fluffed up to a "catering" order with more rice and not proportionally more meat.
My mom was charged over $100 for this lie and left an $18 tip.
This is pretty nefarious, more honesty on the portions would have been greatly appreciated here.
Thankfully we placed a huge order of wings the night before at America's Best Wings (really yummy stuff btw!!) and have over 40 flats and drums plus some whole wings to extend this spread and feed everyone throughout the day - not everyone will be this lucky.
I'm gonna need to find a new place to get shwarma next I'm in town cause I will NOT be giving this one anymore of my money.
TL;DR: food is good, but be careful when placing larger orders, they don't do catering portions but will definitely lie and say they do. Just stick to the smaller single orders here and...
Read moreWe ordered our food for pickup and were disappointed when we arrived and were told our food was made an hour ago. They made it seem as if we were late for pickup, but upon looking at the receipt, it told them the exact time we were picking it up. Our food was cold and soggy. It was very disappointing that they didn’t offer to remake it and acted as if that wasn’t an issue. I do recommend you order your food for pickup here, just go order it in person if you want to eat it warm.
The beef shawarma plate with rice wasn’t that great. The flavors were mild on the meat. There was no tahini sauce served with it like the menu said it would. The tomatoes and cucumbers didn’t taste too fresh. They taste a day or two old. There weren’t any herbs as a garnish or in the rice like other places. It wasn’t anything special and I don’t recommend getting it.
My husband liked the lamb gyro. He had no complaints and he said it was tasty.
I liked the pistachio baklava, but my husband didn’t. It’s very dry and not too sweet, the opposite of baklavas I’ve tasted elsewhere. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that, but it wasn’t too bad.
Overall, I’m not impressed. The service was disappointing, no one wants to eat cold food because they couldn’t read the time on the receipt as for when pickup was. The food had no wow factor and was mediocre and didn’t make up for the lack of good service. I don’t see myself giving the place a second chance anytime soon in the near future, nor would I recommend anyone taking a...
