The service. They have great service and the staff here are very pleasant.
The authenticity of the food. I love Mexican food but I’m not so much a fan of the American Tex-mex grease factory stuff that a lot of other places serve.
The freshness. Times are not easy right now, so the fact that the ingredients are consistently fresh without cutting corners really encourages me to spend my money here and keep these guys running.
The flavor explosion. Ridiculously excellent flavor combinations. I’m convinced they make this hot sauce homemade too- fuegoooo
The ratios. Okay no one ever talks about this but for me it’s a thing. I hate when I order a plate and then boom- all rice, one shred of lettuce. Or 32 tomatoes but no beans.. like come on the ratios have to be right. And they are at Shellys. Consistently in fact. I’ve been ordering from them for a year and they have not missed a beat.
The prices are reasonable and you can not beat the quality for what you pay.
Shown here: taco salad with chicken, beans, rice, avocado, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, etc $8.00 WORTH IT DEFINITELY
I will keep coming back here, I love these guys. Bonus: there is an ice cream shop right next door to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Excellent, highly...
Read moreI’ve been going to Shelly’s for the past two years. The past two visits have proven to be my last. Used to be you could get seated and served pretty quick, the food was hot and tasty and the prices were great. They all changed about six months ago when the man who ran the cash register was not there and neither was the waitress we always had. Two visits in a row the food was questionable at best. The service is slow and the waitress seems to care less if you get your food at all. We went yesterday for lunch. Papussas and an order of tacos. Waited 40 minutes and had to ask twice where my order was. The papussas were great, the tacos were awful. Greasy and very few toppings. When it came time to pay I waited another 10 minutes in line while they took care of a carry out order. Not like they are short staffed. Plenty of people working but they just can’t get their act together. On a side note the booths are dirty and the walls are marred up with food stains. Not a good look. I’ll try the other spots around town but won’t...
Read moreMexican food is usually very heavy, but this food was too heavy. I should have asked the female if the skewers were my food that she was putting in the deep fryer.😳 That was the fisrt red flag. After deep frying the enchiladas, they were replaced in a skillet with a little bit of sauce. I don't know what that was supposed to.
I noticed the dried out food sitting on the food bar that had been there for who knows how lon...probably sitting there since the lunch rush. I regretted my decision to try this food when the same female proceeded to scoop dried up beans from that bar to place in the container for my food. 😠
Why do people do that? Would you want to eat some dried out food? If you would not want to eat it, then don't serve it to somebody else.
The corn tortillas were not only thick, but the enchiladas were super dry. The beans were decent and the rice was okay.
The man managing the register was helpful and pleasant, although he rounded up my bill. This is not a place that I will be...
