Skrimp Shack — Restaurant in Virginia

Every year at lent we search for new fish places, this year we found a gem. Great quality, quick, friendly service, clean and well lit counter order restaurant with plenty of tables, a steady stream of customers, and easy parking.

Guy at counter (owner?) was excited to see each customer and loved to hear feedback (like the Hush Puppies would be even better with some honey butter), he obviously takes pride in the restaurant. One returning customer brought additional friends.

Platters have regular and large sizes, I had scallops - lightly fried, not over cooked, not at all rubbery that many fried scallops can be. Hubby had the shrimp platter they were quite good, despite being fried nothing was oily. Sides we had Mac and Cheese (White chedder), Potatoe salad (Yummy), and hushpuppies ("Best I've had in a decade"-Hubby). Pepsi products soda fountain, and we had a 'nana pudding - huge serving.

Need to go back because there is more we want to try like the Crabmeat & Skrimp Po-Boy, Fish Tacos, and a sandwich of Whiting, Flounder, or Mahi. Cole Slaw is my side choice next time and hubby wants to...

WOW! One of the best meals I’ve ever had and that’s not an exaggeration. I ordered the haddock basket with okra and a side of sweet potato fries.

The fish was fresh, flaky, perfectly seasoned and battered to perfection. The fried okra was amazing-it was delectably creamy on the inside yet coated in a batter that had a great crunch-again, seasonings were on point. The sweet potato fries were sweet and crisp. The surprise of the entire meal was the tartar sauce. I have NEVER had tartar sauce like this-thick and complemented the meal to perfection. I plan on getting extra tartar sauce with every future meal-that’s how good it was.

I was so impressed I had to call the store-spoke with Troy and shared my thoughts on the incredible cuisine. I can’t wait to visit in person and if you get a chance to try it, RUN don’t walk. Absolutely poor customer service. I am home sick and I called and pre-ordered, I let the gentleman know my brother would pick up my food at 6:30 PM. We have never been to this establishment we actually order from a Wonderful and welcoming skrimp shack in Dumfries VA. I figured we would try this one because it was close to his job and convenient unfortunately it was the wrong choice. Not only did his staff let me know the voicemail has not been switched over my brother went to the restaurant or maybe the next-door restaurant, which appeared closed. We both called the restaurant numerous times receiving the voicemail that Skrimp shack was closed. I proceeded to leave a voicemail about everything that happened and literally just talk to the manager whom said I will not receive a refund or anything because I didn’t pick up my food which was $35.
