This is one of the best spots in the park for a vegan to come by for food. If you’re doing the meal plan, they have so many options that you’ll need to either drop by twice or choose to omit some stuff. (The meal plan option for vegans is 3 selections plus a bonus frybread)

All locations have a binder that includes the ingredient lists

For my first meal, I grabbed the roasted potatoes, roasted vegetables, mango salad, and the free piece of fried bread.

The bread is quite donutty! Delicious! The potatoes are straightforward.

The roasted veggies were nicely done, pleasant roasted onion flavor on it all.

the mango tomato salad was tasty. Peppery and mildly vinegary. The red onions are raw, as a heads up just in case. The cilantro is easily picked out and I didn’t taste the soap, so the soaking in the vinegar may have mellowed it.

They don’t have a 6th item, and watermelon doesn’t count, so for my 2nd meal to sample the items I didn’t get the first round, I just grabbed another serving of the roasted veggies.

The kale slaw is nice and tangy, not too crispy, but not soggy. The ramen gives it a subtle occasional chewiness.

The Bahamian rice isn’t really anything special, and the ingredients aren’t super healthy anyway. (And you can get rice at other locations in the park, so if you wanted to pare down the menu, this is the top item I would pass on.)

The second item I think I would pass on is the potatoes. Especially with the fried bread on the side. It’s the least interesting item compared to the other options.

So if you’re getting only one meal from here, I’d get the roasted veggies, kale slaw and mango salad with the fried bread. But when I visited last time, not everything was ready at park open. So if you’re maximizing the timing of your meals, I’d pop in real quick to the grains place near the entrance for first meal and then go to outpost for the second meal. By then everything should be ready.

I suspect like other locations within the park, that vegan items may sell out early without the intention to prepare more for the day. So definitely optimize the “once every 90 minutes” thing for your first few meals so you don’t miss out on the only items we can eat. (Also pay attention to the hours of each eatery. I missed out on trying outpost during my first visit because they closed early)

They have a very large outside...

This place is a good spot to sit in the AC and cool off. I came here with my parents and sister for lunch after a bunch of rides. I got the chicken and Mac n cheese, my sister got the shrimp and Mac n cheese and my mom got the same. My dad didn’t eat because he ate gravel he found on the side of the highway on the way here so he wasn’t hungry. The chicken was mid, it didn’t have a lot of flavor and tasted watery, the Mac n cheese was good until a damn hornet landed in it and I threw it away because that’s disgusting. They only have tables here and no booth I was absolutely GUTTED ! I hate tables they r so uncomfortable, awkward and downright hillbilly. Booths r the way to go. Now this used to be bubba gumps shrimp co then it changed to this place. Their used to also be a pair of divers boots 🥾 outside that were welded and bolted to the ground 😂 I used to put my feet in em and get my pic taken lol. WELDED BOLTED BOOTS! I would come here for food again but probably only if I needed to. Like I said the chicken had hardly any flavor so I didn’t really have a good dinner. I got back to our hotel and found some bugs hanging in a web so I decided the spider looked fat enough so I pulled the bugs outta the web and ate the spiders dinner. He was GUTTED. Crunchy and full of protein. If ur at kings dominion u can come here but beware u might not like it all that much. 2 stars for atmosphere because no booths only tables with hard wood chairs, 3 stars for the food because the Mac n cheese was good and 5 stars because the servers were really polite and had an amazing attitude and looked like they really enjoyed their jobs. Below is pics of the restaurant, our food and the big web I took bugs out of at the hotel. Their is a big hole in the web because it was sticky so I had to punch through it extra hard to get...

Outpost Cafe was updated this season to a new menu. Food is upscale for amusement park food. Sick of fast food come here. I've included photos of the food. Mac and cheese is better here than the Grain and Grill. My son thought the prime rib had a hint of corn beef flavor. The vegetable slaw is my favorite. My son who is a picky eater and doesn't try many new foods actually liked it. It reminds me of my broccoli salad flavor. The mango tomato salad has a strong flavor and is very good. They both are light and nice to eat when it's extremely hot and humid. I talked to Denis Callinan the executive chef. They are planning more upgrades to improve the parks choices. I know a lot of people would like upgrades such as; vegetarian, gluten free and airy free options. The restaurant has a comfortable temperature and isn't too cold like some of the other restaurants in the park. We will definitely come back...
