(Aug 2024 update) this USED to be a solid B&M floorless coaster. It WAS always fun, especially in the last row on the left side. But this year hasn't been good for Dominator. It shakes a lot especially for a B&M, to the point of your head smashing into the restraints. It feels like all the wheels are developing flat spots. It makes a weird cluncking sound (that I know for a fact it's not supposed to make). It's like they haven't even made and effort to try and maintain this coaster. I literally got a headache from this coaster. From this one. Crazy, I know. Come on King's Dominion, B&M coasters are known for being glass smooth, so why isn't this one? Why has this coaster gotten so rough?!
Secondly; Why are the ride operators SO SLOW?! I used to train people on how to run the coasters at KD, and this wouldn't be acceptable at all.
And of course, my last point (which apparently STILL has to be made) it's LACK of visual appeal. This coaster has absolutely NO appeal! Which is a shame since it's the first thing you see! KD desperately need to give Dominator a truly "dominating" color scheme. The track & rails should be the color the supports are now. The supports should be black. The loop should be teal or neon green. The trains should be neon green or even purple instead of yellow. The orange on the train should be dark blue (like the supports are now) or steel gray, and the purple on the trains should be teal
When the colors fit the name & the park actually maintains the coaster, then I'll give it 5 stars. But until then? Nope! You are capable of so much better than this King's Dominion, and I'm holding you to the standards you held me...
Read moreYesterday was the THIRD TIME IN A ROW that we have been to KD, arriving 11:00 a.m., going straight to Dominator, waiting for about 20 minutes in line and the ride was shut down literally as soon as we were about to get on. We waited around for about 30 more minutes and finally left the ride. We walked around the park for a little bit and quite a few other rides were not operating either. Furthermore, ALL of the trash cans stunk of rotten food, and the park had literally just opened up. We tried to get something to eat and I was informed that the dining pass I purchased had already been used and was not the seasonal pass (as I was told it WAS when I purchased it the first trip, as well as the paper cup drink pass). When I tried to ask for an explanation , all I got was a shrug and a mumbled "I don't know"...The bathroom was disgusting. Finally, about an hour later,we decided to just leave KD altogether due to the whole mess. Dominator was still non operational as we left, with one of the trains stuck midway going up a hill.
Highly disappointed and will NOT be giving ANY more of my money...
Read moreDominator is a coaster that has a lot of loops, twists, and inversions, which is apparent just by looking at it's track. If you are someone who doesn't enjoy these elements or rollercoasters in general, then I'd say to pass on this ride. Even if you do have issues with rollercoasters, in my experience you'll probably be fine since this is one of those things where the wait and anticipation is worse than the actual ordeal itself. Maybe you'll even be lucky and pass out, then you won't remember the ride at all. However, for those who do enjoy intense rollercoasters this is one of your medium-intensity rides. It has it's fair share of interesting elements and forces, but it's nothing too crazy. Personally, the ride is a tad bit shaky for me, so I usually have to stick my head forward a little when I ride, but that's just me and it really isn't that bad. Overall, I like this ride and I think...
