Pros: Flavor profiles, Drinks, Service
Cons: Loud customers
Tucked away in a little corner of Wadsworth square, there sits an unassuming and well dressed restaurant that caters to flavors of the seasons every 10 weeks. The Vue boasts about its ever changing menu, inviting you to join their table and taste the flavors it dictates every 10 weeks.
My husband and I don’t loudly announce our presence nor did we wear anything special to the Vue, though we very well could have. The Vue is a place you can come in well dressed or like you’ve just got done shopping at the local thrift store (which we had just done earlier that day), and not be treated any differently than if you shown up in suit and tie and floor length ballgown.
Behind a gaggle of better dressed elderly patrons, we were greeted the same way they had, with bright smiles and doors held open. A refreshing take on regular dining experiences.
Our reservation had been at 5:30 and we were promptly seated, drinks ordered and an attentive waitress who was always present and ready but not overbearing in a sense where you felt overwhelmed.
My husband partook in a neat glass of Weller while I chose to indulge in a lavender martini, you can always judge an establishment on their martinis, and I’m pleased to say that The Vue did not disappoint. The subtle hints of lemon and lavender gave a refreshing and biting taste to a traditional martini that paired beautifully with their well seasoned stuffed grape leaves we chose for our appetizers.
Within 24 minutes after we were seated, we had our main entrees: the Greek lamb (my husband) and the pork Normandy (myself).
Now lamb is a tricky meat to prepare and execute, and the Vue did execute well. Tender, melt in your mouth lamb, paired with orzo and zucchini, each flavor held its own separately, but put together, it was an intense rich flavor that was surprisingly aromatic without being overwhelming, no flavor overpowered the other. It was a beautiful masterpiece of complementary flavors put together.
The pork Normandy, was beyond anything I could have prepared myself for. Perfectly delicate flavors, just like the lamb, with each item on your plate having their own unique flavor profile that held its own singularly but when put together gave itself an entirely different experience.
My mouth is watering just thinking about the flavors, being able to remember each one on its own is something that many establishments, fine dining wise, attempt to do and most fail, however for this Mediterranean Menu, they have absolutely accomplished their task and more so. Paired with a beautiful Sauv Blanc, enhancing the taste even more.
Afterwards, we enjoyed the Orange Olive Oil cake, was surprisingly light for being such a dense cake, with subtle , not overwhelming flavors of orange that was refreshing and had a back end flavor of the olive oil.
Now, we came in here with a heavy bias, to be fair we had been testing the Vue on its professionalism and its menu. We had been following the Vue and waiting for a menu we believed we would enjoy, and we absolutely were blown away.
It’s not many times that I give rave reviews where I have had previous heavy biased opinions on, but the Vue is the exception.
We are very excited to see what comes next and hope to be pleasantly surprised by their next menu in the...
Read moreWe visited the highly anticipated VUE in Wadsworth and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and high-quality cuisine. If I could, I would rate this place, a 4.75, taking off a couple of points for the loudness. It's an open air room, and there were no sound baffles, making conversation somewhat difficult. For a brand new restaurant, they sure had their act together. Our server was extremely attentive and allowed us to order and eat at our own pace. I hate being rushed through service and pressured to order before I'm ready, so I am happy to report that I did not feel pressured at The Vue. We were impressed by the wine selection; they had many unique house wines that are not your typical cheapo brands. We started with a couple of cocktails and the crab-stuffed peppers. I highly recommend the peppers! The cocktails were unique & tasty. Not your typical boring simple-syrupy drinks. I would love to see more local liquor represented at the bar, but was happy to see they at least had Voudoux Vodka. We also went with our server's recommendations for our meals: I had the orange roughy, and my husband had the roast. We were delighted by our meals, and I especially loved the rice that came with mine: uniquely flavorful and bright. The carrots on the dish, however, were somewhat clumsy and maybe cut a little too large. Overall, everything was flavored very nicely. We also went with the server's recommendation for dessert and had the German chocolate cake which was super moist, very coconutty, and not overly sweet, which we appreciated. Homemade too! An outsider would not have guessed this was The Vue's first week in operation as they were extremely efficient and everything was delicious. I am excited to come back and try different cocktails and entrées. What a nice addition...
Read moreI want to start off by saying this review is not meant to sound negative, but more so constructive as this restaurant has huge potential.
This was my first time visiting. When I looked at the menu online beforehand, I assumed it was a mediterranean restaurant. This was not the case, as their menu completely changes every 10 weeks or so. I think this may be a case of jack of all trades, master of none.
The flavors of everything I tasted were very good, but some dishes missed the mark overall. For apps, we ordered the flatbread and the bruschetta trio. As I stated before, both had good flavors but underwhelmed us overall. The flatbread was extremely floppy and the bruschetta was served on bread that was as thick as Texas toast, and definitely not toasted or crispy. For the entrees, we ordered the flank steak and the lamb. I was asked how I wanted the flank steak, and I replied medium. It came out as well done. I dont typically send food back, so I dealt with it as it was still tender. The flavors on this were very good as well. My wife got the lamb. I cant speak to the taste, but it didn't look appealing. Large ring of fat that should've been cut or rendered off, was the biggest issue. I did have one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was a butter pecan old fashion. Absolutely delicious! The waitress (Olivia) was great and very attentive. My only other gripes, were the auto 20% for a "large group". Normally in my experience, this is for groups of 8 or more. There were 6 of us. Who knows, maybe this is the new norm, along with the surcharge for using a CC for payment. Personally, I think thats a cost of doing business that the establishment should eat or just work into the overall cost of their food. Im not holding that against anyone though as far as the review...
