I live right across the street, had not gotten their food in years.....but I tell you one thing.... I will NEVER be back.
I placed a phone takeout order. Arrived , waited at the counter for awhile, while 2 staff members were just standing there. Finally a young male comes to the counter, & asks "What do you want"? ...which was very rude!
I informed him I was there to pick up my order. While doing the credit card transaction...he put in my total,& just walked away. Didn't even tell me my total.
He yelled from the other side to " put my card in ,&pay". There is apart of the transaction that must be approved by staff...so im waiting for him to come back, " he yells from the other side... yeah..is something wrong".
I informed him, he needed to approve the transaction. He came over approved it, then walked away AGAIN. Without even handing me my food, or saying anything .
After about 10 secs...He then says "Your food is on the counter" . Mind you there are like 6 orders on the counter. Before I left I nicely tried to explain to him how rude he was, & was brushed off. I will never spend money here again!
Update: the owner contacted me, apologized, stated he spoke with the employee, & that it will never happen again. My meal was very good. How I am treated in an establishment is most important to me. I really appreciated Charlie the owner calling, & making things right. Changing my star rating...because of the apology, & follow-up. Thank...

However, I wanted to leave a review today that really doesn’t reflect my feelings regarding Charlie’s, but more so my frustration with the online order process. After going to the website for Charlie’s at Heritage Lake, I placed an online order, which appeared to successfully go through Yelp/Grubhub. I received a notification that my order went through and would be ready for pickup in 15-30 minutes. I arrived during that timeframe, just to be told there had been no order received on the restaurants end. Once I showed the staff member my confirmation, she kindly prepared my order. There was no charge, because I had paid online. Then, approximately thirty minutes later and after I was already home, I received both a text and email informing me that my order had been cancelled. I immediately called the restaurant because I wanted to explain what transpired and let them know that I would come back by and pay for my food. However, there was a huge communication struggle with the employee. Fast forward…..I reached out to Pam James, one of my favorites from Charlie’s. Pam was several states away, but was kind enough to call one of the managers and explain the situation and conveyed back to me not to worry about coming back in. Read moreWant something different that's full of flavor and is served by friendly folks? Try Charlie's Kabob Grill in Wake Forest! Totally worth the effort to find them a tad off the beaten path. They've got an array of Middle Eastern delights, both sweet AND savory. Eat in if you'd enjoy listening to relaxing music and just take a break. Or get it to go and feast on your own. Both work great!
Today, I tried their Garden Bowl with a chicken kabob added. Utterly delicious combination of falafel, lettuces, chickpeas, tahini, pasta, grilled vegetables, etc, etc, with whole wheat pita to help scoop up all the healthy goodness. Yum!!
I was a little naughty and tried the irresistible warm Lebanese donuts! They gave my favorite churros a run for their money! I'd suggest you get some baklava to take home for later.... if you can wait.
The staff are all delightfully patient and super helpful. If you're not sure what to order, just ask for some great ideas. They cater, too, and I bet it's spectacular. While I ate, a stream of delivery folks came through, and they were treated with the same friendly helpfulness as everyone else. Really impressive!
